aloha sourcers

a three month process has ended this week with source not returning to keanae in 2014.

the most likely home for source this year will be camp maluhia in the west mauis if we are able to solve parking issues by december 20th.

the alternative is an as-yet unseen miracle spot somewhere on this isle or the tranformation of source  into an event distributed between a variety of venues across the island.

the final option is to take this year off, possibly plan a summer event or begin planning for 2015.

all this and more is open to discussion wednesday night at 7:30 at resource.

if you cannot make the meeting but have good solutions or ideas please post to this list.

aloha!

interested to hear how the meeting went.
without knowing where you all took this,
i'd vote to push back to april,
cultivate
and go more symposium route
(with topics including "interactive art" and "festival culture")
love to you all

I was not able to attend this meeting either but did get some feedback…
another plus for having Bryan A. living here.

I like the idea of symposiums.  I could see getting more mainlanders visiting us for some special themed gatherings.  Some of our crew (Bryan A) would be great at giving a Festival Culture themed on.   I'd happily help with a techie/art symposium (which of course needs some music/dance/art events in the evenings).

I've had some conversations along these lines with people from other circles here on Maui (and on mainland).  I think there could be some really interesting opportunities here - and upfront funding assists.

takin a break sounds better and better

Aloha Kakou,

I think there are many of us who need time to restore balance so I vote we take a break this year.  Instead we could focus on some FUNraisers and social gatherings. Good things come to those who are PATIENT and well PLANNED!

Love to everyone xoxo

I'm looking forward to being home and tuning in with what Maui is calling for in terms of a gathering.
I love that we come to this with vast experience on the island and really all of Hawaii with interactive art festivals-- and community activation.

In a way I feel like this is an opening to talk about all the groups that have been influenced by SOURCE. I think about some of the most engaged events on the island and come up with TEDx, Maui Makers, artMixx, and of course all new extensions of SOURCE now that we are connected more with Burning Man. SOURCE has been connected and working with what I consider the most potent Maui groups that engage the human spirit and seek a shared abundance of fulfilling lives and expressed meaningful art.

We are an important part of this island's modern culture.

There are so many groups that have spawned from SOURCE or at least been influenced that it's difficult to come up with them all without knowing many have been left off a proverbial list. Certainly we can't assume credit, and would never know what would have happened if we had never started 7 years ago to create something many said would never work.

Perhaps island renaissance is far too strong a word, but I do know that when I arrived on the island almost ten years ago, there was nothing sustained that was like this.

I see a good moment for introspection. Event an audit. Connecting with all the activated people we know that share our interest for an alive and prosperous island seems appropriate. Let's find out what the island is calling forth. Maui style.

I look forward to hearing over the next month what people, SOURCERS and beyond, are interested in creating next.

Is there a decision made?  I think it's important to update the website with our current news about what we are or are not offering for SOURCE this year... so many people are trying to buy plane tickets, so let's let them know what's up...

I'm happy to do the web updates, but I need some info...

Thanks :)
