Hey, you gotta try this, it's bizzare. Replace the Sound_Module.pd from v2 of sub synth with this version, the only difference is the peak setting on the filter is used as a ratio instead of a constant (in other words, if you set it to 1, then play a 440, the peak of the filter will be 440. If you set 2, peak will be 880, etc). Okay, seems to work like you'd expect until you set higher values: try this, amp envelope attack 5 decay 0 sus 100 rel 500, filter envelope peak 500, attack 500, decay 0, sus 100, rel 500, Q 100. Play notes on your keyboard, you get weird effects, it's almost like at the filter freq rises, it passes certain frequencies that get emphasized or something. The higher you play on the keyboard, the more little emphases you get. If you have the release settings like I just showed, then you hear the reverse as well, so it's kinda like mwaaafubfubfubfubzzzzzfubfubfubfubaaawm. Oh yeah, that's exactly what it's like.

Okay, some more observations: the with the suggested settings, the
higher the peak ratio is set, the more beats or whatever we could call
them you get. Now, with the really high ratios, the filter frequency
goes way above 20,000 HZ. (ratio of 1000 at 440 = 440000). Higher Q
gives you less of the wave sound, more of the 'beats' so they start to
sound like water drops or something. All right, 'nuff said.
