how do i turn off the music

Hello, you can press Alt+M to toggle the music on or off, and press Alt+Home and Alt+End to adjust the music volume.

 also can you please describe what the difference is between a house and farm. also when a house and   farm produce what does that mean

Houses provide population, and training units uses up population. You can press C to check it.
Farms provide food. You can have peasants gather from farms to obtain food, and you can press Shift+Z to check your food amount. Training a Knight requires food. When all the food in a farm has been gathered, you can press A to find the cultivate command and press Enter to use it. The food in the farm will then be replenished, and you can have peasants gather from the farm again.
