Metatdata showing up in one database but not another - referencing the same wavs

Hi,

This might have an obvious solution so apologies ahead of time if it's a basic query.

Using SM HD+

I have a couple of libraries that have all the description fields present in an old database file, but having migrated onto a new machine I started up a new database. At this point the description fields for these files are lost in my newly created database but show up in the original one, when their filepaths are still displaying the old machines drive location. It has no problem linking to these files in their new location, but only displays them in the filepath field as their old location that no longer exists.

When I export these libraries to a text file, they can't be reimported as the filepath is non existent.

Is there something I'm missing here? The obvious answer is to just ignore the issue and use the old database file as it just seems to work, but it is a very messy disorganised library and a fresh start is always preferable. I'm just confused by how it will work for one database and not another when it is pointing at the exact same files.

Any thoughts, much appreciated,

cheers

Have you embedded records into the files?

Unsure how it works w HD.  Sound miner pro can "relink".

You can browse through the paths stored in your database using metabrowser... good way to select all the sounds in a certain path, then you can select all and do a "relink selected"

Ah yes I do believe that is what I have neglected to do...(feels abit daft)

I guess I have been used to keeping everything in one place for a long time, and so when it comes to migrating things to a new drive I didn't consider which things would be left behind in transit.

Loads of other libraries transferred over with no issue, hence why I was puzzled.

many thanks though!
