Hi,

I have purposefully installed ArcGIS Desktop 10.4.1 with Python 2.7 in order to make use of the Sound Mapping Tools.  The Test Compatibility Tool fails to execute just before hitting the 19 minute mark so I assume it almost completes the analysis before aborting.  The error message that show up in the dialogue box while the tool is running,  indicating that it cannot clear the environment; this is reflected in the results message sections. Refer to attached screenshots.  I am hoping there is a fix for this.

Thanks for any assistance,

Meghan

  • Either you ran out of space, memory, write permissions on that folder.
I would suggest setting a new output folder.

Hi Douglas, thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately changing the output folder didn't resolve the issue.  There is over 900 GB of space on the C drive, and over 900 GB of space on the hard drive which I relocated the output folder to.  The only change is that model terminated a few minutes sooner but the errors are the same.

I hope there are more suggestions.

Meghan

just does not look right. see attached image.
it is concerning that none of the cellSize, snapRaster and extent was unable to be set.

are you setting those values in the "environments" tab of the spread tool? if so, are all your input surfaces the same cell size, srs?

I have actually be wondering about the cell size warning as well.  At the moment I am just trying to get the Test Compatibility Tool to run and have followed the step by step instructions in Appendix A of the SoundMappingTools User's Guide v4_4_2.  It does not mention setting extents before running the tool but based on your suggestion I set the extents to the DEM in the source_data folder and re-ran the tool.  I am still getting the same error.

I should say, I set the snap raster to the DEM... setting the processing extent to the DEM causes the tool to terminate immediately.

is the extent correct? because it is trying to clear the extent, but the extent does not exist. are you setting the correct extent in the GUI?

The resolution to my particular error was to remove the Source_data_Tutorials_Results folder from the parent folder that generated during the unzipping process.  I removed the extra folder from the other data file but missed this one.

A huge thanks to Douglas for asking the right questions!

Hi Meghan,

I am having what appears to be an identical problem to the one you had. I see the resolution that you posted. I searched for but did not find a "tutorials" nor a "tutorials_results" folder after unzipping the "Source_data_Tutorials_Results" folder from google drive. I see two python files titled "smt_tutorial" and "smt_tutorial_modified" but none of my other files or folders have tutorial in the title.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you,

Maegan
