I get this error when I try to install other programs as well. I have managed to install .NET Framework 4.0. previously, but now I can not get this install to go smoothly. How can I resolve this error?

install dotnetfx40 full x86 x32.exe

Insert the ezLINX software DVD into the DVD drive of the computer and access its contents using windows explorer. The DVD contains three folders labelled Documents, Hardware and Software. Enter the folder labelled Software.

A single software installation is required prior to installing the ezLINX Sample PC Application Software:
.NET Framework v4
The software files for installing the .NET framework v4 are included on the ezLINX DVD supplied and are located in the Software/PC Application Installation folder

Install the .NET Framework v4 found in the Software/PC Application installation inside the dotnetfx40 folder on the ezLINX Package DVD. To run the installer, double click on the dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe. This will open the window as displayed below:

Run the setup by double clicking on the setup.exe file. This should start the installation process and when completed the window below will open:

This window indicates that the software installation was successful and is now running.

There are two different drivers for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 so if you are unsure which version of the OS the PC is running then check in the system settings before attempting to install the driver.

Navigate to the device manager by searching for it in the start menu like so:

On a particular user's 32-bit Windows 7 SP1 machine, the framework installation (via ClickOnce) is failing with an error code 5100, which according to this MSDN article, indicates that The user's computer does not meet system requirements.

This installation is under Microsoft's control as part of the ClickOnce publishing mechanism. It looks as though it is trying to install the 64-bit framework onto a 32-bit machine? Is that what could be causing the 5100 error?

This error appeared for me when I was trying to Install the Windows SDK. This error appeared because newer version of the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable had been installed on my machine previously. I needed to uninstall both the x86 and x64 versions from my machine and then install the Windows SDK. My issue is described by MS here.

At this MSDN link -us/library/ee390831(v=vs.110).aspx it specifies the installer log location as %temp%\Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5*.html. I was looking for .NET 4.5 but the Other Versions link has the path for .NET 4.0.

Error 5100 can mean .NET Framework 4.7 failed to install on Windows 10 because the first two builds of Windows 10 (build 10240 version 1507, and build 10586 version 1511) do not allow .NET Framework 4.7. They only allow up to .NET Framework 4.6.2. The only way to install .NET Framework 4.7 or later on Windows 10 is to upgrade your Windows 10 build version.

I've tried various versions of the above procedure (installing winbind, not installing winbind, wine1.7, wine1.8, with / without corefonts etc...). However, every time I run the last command I end up getting this error:

Although most of us have .NET 4.8 installed for Windows 10/11, certain apps and programs still require older NET Framework versions to run properly. Moreover, the older Windows versions also need an older NET Framework. For example, you may need to get NET Framework 4.0 downloaded/installed for Windows 7/XP/Vista.

Step 3. In the setup window, click on Next, tick the checkbox next to I have read and accept the license terms click on Install, and wait for the installation to complete. Once done, click on Finish.

keeps showing up. I've been able to bypass it once by reinstalling gnupg, gpgme and libassuan. But when I relaunched the game a bit later again (wanted to test my xbox 360 controller) the error showed up again.

Hi, Thanks for sharing the farmeworks. I have a serious question here. Actually i have a windows application current version is .net2.0 and I plan to migrate the app into .net 4.5 but here is a catch under my solution folder i have several modules out of that one is compatable with XP os since the 3rd party components are not supportive with win7 and later. Now suggest me on the below questions.
1. If i build the code in the 4.5 framework is it backward compactable with the .net 3.5 which is already been installed in my XP OS?
2. else, If i build the code in 4.0 framework is it compactable with the .net 3.5 which is already been installed in my XP OS?
3. Since my solution having a sharing BL and DA layers for different modules i dont know how to handle this situatuion?
Please expecting a fast respone. Many Thanks in advance.

The list of installed updates totals 48, all but one of which it says were install in 2011, prior to the recovery partitions image creation. And, one yesterday, after I installed the upgrade for Windows Update.

Issue 19After you install a hotfix package that applies the .NET Framework 4, all services that are hosted on Windows Process Activation Services (also known as WAS) may be turned off. Additionally, the services cannot be restarted until you restart the computer. An example of a service is a WAS-hosted Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service.

The following are the affected activation services:

Issue 31You install the security update that is described in KB974417 when directories in the GAC folder, including the System.EnterpriseServices.dll assembly, are locked or the assembly is being used. In this scenario, the security update installation fails, and the computer becomes corrupted.

For more information about the issue, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

2260913 FIX: Updating the .NET Framework may fail and some files in the GAC may be deleted

Issue 35When you install the security update that is described in the following Knowledge Base article, a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service is forcibly closed by the remote host. This problem occurs when the trust level is set to High or to Medium in the Web.config file of the WCF service.

Update detection information
The v2 package of this Knowledge Base article creates the same detection keys as the v1 package. This is a known issue for this update. If your application has a dependency on the v2 version of this update, you can check the following registry subkeys, based on the .NET Framework 4 Profile that is installed on your computer. You can then determine whether the v2 version of the KB2468871 update is installed on your computer.

To do this, follow these steps:

The global version of this update uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the update. The dates and the times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in the following table. When you view the file information, the date is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
