This document provides a guide for migrating an Exchange Server 2007 organization to Exchange Server 2010. It outlines the key phases of the project: planning, building the new Exchange 2010 environment, testing, migrating data and services, and removing the legacy Exchange 2007 servers. The guide uses an example migration scenario and environment but notes each organization's needs are unique and adjustments may be required. Careful planning is emphasized to understand the existing setup and ensure a smooth transition.Read less
Earlier this year, Microsoft officially depreciated the Remote PowerShell Protocol (RPS) in Exchange Online. This month, RPS is no longer available to worldwide cloud customers, with plans for sovereign cloud customers to soon follow suit.
When RPS is disabled for a tenant, a Service Health Notification will be provided in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Users must transition to the Exchange Online PowerShell v3 module and use Connect-ExchangeOnline for future PowerShell sessions. The UseRPSSession parameter and older modules no longer function.
Microsoft is deprecating the Exchange Online PowerShell UserPhoto cmdlets and transitioning customers to the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK. Starting in April 2024, tenant admins will no longer be able to use the Exchange Online PowerShell UserPhoto cmdlets to Get, Set, and Remove user profile photos. Note that these cmdlets will remain functional in Exchange Server (on-premises).
In March 2024, Microsoft is introducing a Public Preview for Inbound SMTP DANE with DNSSEC in Exchange Online. SMTP DANE is a security protocol that uses DNS to authenticate email certificates and protect against TLS downgrade attacks. DNSSEC is a set of extensions to DNS that verifies DNS records, preventing DNS spoofing and adversary-in-the-middle attacks to DNS.
The upcoming architecture change will affect the old Exchange Online DNS setup, specifically the mail.protection.outlook.com domain. Email admins and third-party organizations working with Microsoft 365 or Exchange Online for mail flow should check for any necessary actions before the new feature is rolled out.
Users should note that bulk (mass) email is not a supported use of Microsoft 365. Microsoft recommends using Azure Communication Services (ACS) Email, on-premises email servers, or a third-party provider to facilitate high volume emails.
The EWS to Microsoft Graph Migration Guide Series is a new initiative by Microsoft to provide customers with guidance and resources to migrate from EWS to Microsoft Graph. The series will consist of several articles covering aspects of the migration process, such as:
Their first article in the series was released yesterday, which guides customers through identifying and managing applications in their tenant using Outlook REST v2 API and Exchange Web Services (EWS) API.
Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite) is a popular productivity and cloud-based email solution. Many organizations have made the switch to it. This article focuses on the steps involved in migrating email to Google Workspace and covers various migration options available to ensure a smooth transition.
Migrating email to Google Workspace involves several crucial steps to ensure a smooth transition for your organization. Whether you're moving from another email provider or consolidating multiple accounts, careful planning and execution are essential.
Migrating a single user (refer to the steps we discussed in IMAP Migration) (The only difference will be the password field. Here, unlike migrating from other sources, enter the user's password for their source Google Workspace account in the "Password" field.)
Before you begin, you must ensure that you have prepared the source account. (we discussed this in the first scenario) Next, ensure the user whose data you're migrating is available to sign in to their Gmail account and grant permission for the migration.
After the migration, verifying that all email data, contacts, and calendar events have been successfully transferred to Google Workspace is crucial. Conduct thorough testing to ensure that email delivery, folder structure, and other settings function as expected.
If you're migrating from another email provider and using a custom domain with Google Workspace, you may need to update your DNS records to point to Google's mail servers. Follow Google's instructions to update your DNS settings to ensure uninterrupted email delivery.

In conclusion, migrating your email to Google Workspace offers many benefits, enhancing your organization's productivity, collaboration, and security. By following the steps outlined in this guide, including choosing the appropriate migration method, configuring settings, and verifying data transfer, you can ensure a smooth transition to Google Workspace.
Whether you leverage Google's native tools or explore third-party solutions, migrating your email lays the foundation for a more efficient and secure communication experience within your organization.
In most cases, users have no downtime during email migration to Google Workspace. Migration tools typically copy emails in the background so users can continue using their old email system until the migration is complete. However, it's always a good idea to plan for potential disruptions and communicate the migration process to users in advance.
The amount of data you can migrate to Google Workspace depends on your specific plan. Google Workspace offers various editions with different storage limits. To determine your plan's limitations, you can check your storage quota or contact your Google Workspace administrator.
Once your emails are migrated to Google Workspace, you can keep them or delete them in your old email system. For archival purposes, you should keep a copy of your old emails for a certain period. Once you're confident the migration was successful, you can delete them.
You can migrate emails from multiple accounts into a single Google Workspace account. Some migration tools allow you to specify which emails you want to migrate and from which source accounts. This lets you consolidate emails from various accounts into a unified inbox within your Google Workspace account.
Google Workspace employs robust security measures to protect your data during migration. These include data encryption in transit and at rest and authentication protocols to ensure only authorized users can access your information. Research their specific security practices when using third-party migration tools to ensure they meet your organization's data security requirements.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
