Salaams,

I am at a lose for words-devastated. The results of this election will have very real consequences both domestically and internationally. We need to organize for the long term future of our community, and prepare for the next four years.

We need to do a urgent conference call--this weekend. Please let me know if you are available for a call at 6:00pm EST on Saturday or Sunday.

I will send out additional details in the next few days.

Salaam,

I would disagree with that. There is plenty to worry about. During the campaign, hate crimes against American Muslims went up considerably with 2 murders of Muslims right here in NYC based on nothing but their outward appearance, not to mention other violence and threats. This will only increase with an empowered Trump base. We have to be especially concerned about our women in hijab, who are easy targets. We must prepare and protect our community as best as we can, inshallah.

Best,

Mohammad Ali

Why we are having so panic. There is nothing to worry about. Try to save people who are targeted daily in Karachi.

Those in Princeton may attend the event below today.

Assalamu'alaykum dear community,

We all awoke to the news that Donald Trump has been elected as the next President of the United States. This has been a really divisive and toxic year as the campaigns for president unfolded. I would like to invite any of you who may need a space for communal reflection and healing to come out today at 7.45 pm in Green Hall, room 0-N-2 to be part of a healing circle. It will give us an opportunity to be together and pray together.

If you need to reach out at this time for support, please feel free to e-mail me (ssu...@princeton.edu) or give me a call (609.258.3042).

Peace & Blessings,
Imam Sohaib

Dear All community leaders
Salamun Alaykum,
I think a round table meeting of our all major organizations/institutions should be held after Arbaeen. On one hand we must not become panic and too reactionary but on the other hand we must not be naive. As a vulnerable community,we must engage in serious and brotherly discussion and come up with appropriate policy and plans to protect our community from any potential threat, local or abroad.
In order to achieve any solid  and substantial results,we must reach out to all major organizations/institutions and have a neutral platform to accommodate all view points, in the best interest of our entire community.

I concur with Maulana Faezi
Let us not panic, there is nothing to be panicking about. He did what he had to do to win. It is fine. There is a political process of which I hope we are a part of  and know the power of our vote. Congressmen/women are elected every two years and our activism can make a difference.

We are in Najaf on our way to the IMI Arbaeen camp. Shall be returning back in the first week of December Inshallah. Let us organise another national event as Maulana Faezi suggests

Dear All,

No one is panicking. But there is a need to take notice of the changing political climate within the US.
This election has been won on the basis of bigotry, xenophobia, sexism and racism. The sexism and racism that has been validated in this election makes many American White citizens ashamed.

But we as an affected minority have to take notice and make arrangement for the next four years or more.
This means  new political thinking within the US about Muslims and Islam, as well as foreign relations with other Muslim countries.

WE have grave responsibility here to react appropriately in the situation.

Don’t forget this: We elected a man who doesn’t understand why we CANNOT use nuclear weapons.

Maulanas  suggestion is very timely. As soon as the Muharram hubbub dies out, we have to get together and have a serious heart-to-heart on these issues.

We should also look to our younger members of the community. I am anxiously waiting to see what transpires at the conference call Naqi is organizing.

Thank you

Sincerely,

Syed-Mohsin Naquvi

What does this mean?

I do not understand why the word PANIC is being used so freely in this conversation.

Sincerely,
