I run soulseek 2016.1.17 on linux.  Maybe it's different for windows, but I can't pause, select, or use the received searches.  I want to, not for downloading, for searching bands I haven't been subjected to.  It would be great if I could pause it, select and copy names, or pipe it to a log for a bit.  Anything! but I can't do anything, I can't effect it with the pause button, I can't select and copy anything.

Best scenario, make these a link to youtube, google, etc.. (or selectable search) and I can hit the name and get to view it online, and then the artist gets something out of it to boot.

Anyhoo, anyone know how I can get to these searches and use them, maybe with bash?

I don't quite understand exactly what you want to do, and you don' say which flavour of nix you are using.
You could try updating to a newer version.
I am running Nicotine plus 1.4.1  (soulseek for linux) on Debian 9.0.4.
It has a debug functionality and logs that may be useful to you.
I prefer this to Windows versions that I have had in the past.
These instructions are for Debian and Ubuntu, you may need to do a little research to get proper instructions for other versions.
Apparently it will run on most linux variants.
Earlier versions I have found to have too many Gremlins.

I too run Nicotine 1.4.1. Installing it is a breeze on Ubuntu, but the stock build when using apt-get-install is the older version 1.2.1.
You'll need to grab the latest 1.4.1 build from the Soulseek site.
Not sure what it is you want to do, maybe write it up as a use-case, and attach/upload it as a text file, or Doc.

We are getting a bit off topic and were turning this thread into installing Nic+
Original post is using  Soulseek 2016.1.17 and wants to copy and paste results.
I suggested Nic+ as a way to do this because it has functions to achieve this out of the box.
If you follow the link I supplied in my previous post, it gives instructions to add the nicotine+ repo to your sources list.
So when you install with apt-get install, (or your favourite GUI) you get the latest version. currently 1.4.1
If you add this repo to your sources you get other advantages including the ability to "apt-get upgrade", if an even later version is available in the future.
I think it is a good idea, if you are using Debian or Ubuntu, to use "Synaptic Package Manager" to see which version is available in your sources and to install or upgrade it.
Synaptic is my favourite GUI installer for browsing available software and comprehensive information about it.
Much better than typing "sudo apt-get install something" in a terminal and crossing your fingers.
