So the fields in my router is as follows.:

Description,Inbound port,type,Private IP address,Private port,.

1.) I names it ss ( for soul seek)
2.) I put 51718 or 51719 ( Not sure which one as Soul seek says that 51718 is the listening port but the obfuscated port is 51719 if I am manually forwarding.
3.) for the Private IP the field is pre filled in with 192.168.2. _____________  . So I am not that savvy so I tried a number of different things. ( .4 or .133 ,one article said to add 10 to the
last number so it tried .12 . )
4.) I pick a random number , so i used 2100 .

NOTE , My regular IP address on the web or external IP is 38.93.171.209  which my router is 192.168.2.1 .I know that there is an external IP and internal but I could have sworn my external used
to be the 192.168.2.1 . ( same as the router. ).

Anways I 've closed SS many times and reopen and go to options and check ports and nothing. Any idea???????

Make sure you open the same port in Windows Firewall also your anti-virus program

What do you mean pick a random number? First of all, find out what your computer's IP address is. Have you set up a static IP? If you haven't, then you really haven't tried port forwarding at all since that is the first thing all the guides say to do. If you're on Windows, open up your command prompt and type in ipconfig. your ip4 address is the number you're looking for. Perhaps your router will recognize your computer permanently once you enter that number but otherwise you need a static IP.

Now onto your random number bit. That's definitely something you did wrong. There should be no random number. When you forward your ports in your router, set the Source Port to ANY (figure out the equivalent) and the DESTINATION port to the ports you need to forward. I would just make two separate rules for each port.

So:
Protocol: TCP or UDP or both (you should do both, but you can make separate rules for both TCP and UDP as well)
Source Ports (could be "In"): ANY/ALL
Destination Ports (could be "out"): 51718-51719 (or like I said before make one for 51718 and one for 51719).

Do this, plus make sure SLSK is not being firewalled and you should be good.
I recommend this very minimal simple free tool to check your ports without having to go through Soulseek:

Hey I just saw the part about your router inputs.
Private Port/Inbound Port is a bit confusing. Have you tried looking for your router in https://portforward.com?

I can't say for certain which one should be where you input 51718-51719 but it seems like that should be in BOTH Private Port and Inbound Port. Assuming you have a Belkin, here's my source for that (They also use private/inbound): http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?articleNum=10790

My router is set up differently.

I don't understand why when I look my ip address up on the web its different from  the router. It used to be all the same. I am wondering if what is pre filled in the port forwarding settings being different then my ip address I look up on the web, is the problem. The random number was all what I was told through many tutorials on you tube.

if you would share any of these tutorials that'd be great. Did you try anything I suggested?.. you still didn't explain what "random number" means. There's no input for "random number" is there?
Are you unaware that the IP address you see in your browser is the IP address of your router (unless you're using a proxy/VPN)? The IP address visible to the rest of the world (via your browser) is the gateway IP which is the IP that your router uses to access the rest of the internet. You are getting your internet access from the router, so your router has its own IP addresses (the ones that begin with "192.168...") that it uses to connect to your devices. So on your computer (ipconfig), you're going to see your IP address as seen by the router, but if you're checking your IP via the internet (browser), you're going to see your "home" IP (a.k.a. your router's IP). When you forward your ports, this happens between the router and your computer, so the IP address that should be referenced in the settings is the one between your router and computer and that is invisible to the rest of the world (192.168.etc...).

I tried according to that video

Description: SS
Inbound Port : 51718
Type: TCP
Private IP address: 192.168.2.101
Private Port: I put 51718 again . ( i only did this because in the Belkin Video it had 80 listed twice in both inbound & private port.

Right perfect, so do that again for 51719, and for both ports with the TYPE as UDP. Once all of that is done, see if slsk works/the ports are forwarded correctly.

This didnt work. This is the message I get from SS
IP: 38.93.169.84 Port: 51719/tcp CLOSED. Your router and/or Soulseek client needs to be configured correctly.

You may want to check this list of port forwarding guides for instructions specific to your router model.

Don't forget that you need to restart your client if you modify your listening port.

A couple of questions or statments.

1.) I feel like with the message above its trying to use my external IP as my others ones are 192.168.2........... .
2.) In the port fowarding section what IP address should I use? Router or Laptop? I m guessing Laptop as the Belkin video says that you bypass your firewall on your router and it fowards to the port on your device.
