It seems my files are no longer shared.

Every day I opened Soulseek, I had at least twenty downloads of my shared files, and I really liked that. For the past two weeks, there hasn't been a single download, and I'm surprised.

From then on, I changed the password, uninstalled the app, reinstalled it twice, and there's still no movement.

The graphical interface, the client.   ( basically pretend like you are someone else and see if you can browse your files )

A more or less similar problem has been happening to me recently now that I have a new notebook. I can chat with a friend who has also downloaded from me, but other than him -who knows me personally and has my username- no one sees to be downloading my files. Not sure what is happening, but I would love to be able to share my files again.  I get the following message when I check my port:
Port: 51477/tcp CLOSED. Your router and/or Soulseek client needs to be configured correctly.

Note that I have had the same modem for 1-2 years now and have had zero problems until recently. Yet, as I have mentioned above, my friend has no problem in downloading from and I tested downloading stuff with no problems. The only issue is that no one else seems to download my files.  Note: I have used Soulseek for over 20 years and this is the first time I have had any problems.

I've been using Slsk for over ten years and, like you, this has never happened to me before. The strange thing is that I uninstalled it (or so I thought) to reinstall it and see if that would restore the original settings, but when I reinstalled it, it installed exactly the same. Even the downloads folder with the latest downloads I had made.
The message I have is: The obfuscated port is 61205. If you are opening your ports manually, make sure to open this one as well.

I assume you found how to browse your own folders? ( saw the email go out, but the post is gone )

In the 'official' interface, i know you could join a room, find yourself, then right click and browse. Not sure if there are other ways, the interface has always been confusing to me, and why i prefer Nicotine as things are more straightforward ( not perfect either, but more 'traditional' ). There, you can just search for a user, and then browse.  This is how i tested things myself when i had a port problem and didn't realize it.  First round, no files.. made changes, 2nd try, files and it was fine.

And i am NOT meaning to bash what Nir has done for us all, its just my preference for GUI usability.

Same here. I can't browse my own files. The share folders are set and correct rights.
Issue on Mac SoulseekQt-2025-5-18
Works fine for months but now, no uploads.
Just installed the SoulseekQt-2024-6-30.
I update this post with the result.

But, is your port open? OSX is notorious for not allowing incoming traffic.

nurb432, thanks. The truth is that I didn't know how to do it, and I thought I would try again after sending the reply, so I deleted it. I'll try to do what you say. Thank you. Is Nicotine another file-sharing platform? I'm not familiar with it.

Hiya:

It’s easy enough to check your own files on SoulseekQt.

  • On the Options tab,
  • Under the User List
  • Use the add 'user button' at the top
  • Add your user name
  • Then right-click on your own name on the user list
  • Select “browse files”

Now you will see what other users see when they browse your files.

Hope this helps.

Its a ( totally unofficial ) alternative client to the soulseek network, its not a different platform. Been around at least a decade now. So long i have lost track. LoL.

Im not sure how well its liked around these parts, so i dont mention it often, but it does adhere to all the rules put into place about sharing, queuing, privileges, etc. and isn't cheating anything. It just gives a less complex interface, in my opinion.  ( and many years ago i donated some to Nir, under a different name,  to support the network even tho i used that client instead )

Nick, now I see it.I've looked at it and it appears that I was only sharing an empty folder. Something must have corrupted the connection between Soulseek and my computer. I'll take a closer look this afternoon.
Thanks a million!

Dear friends of the Soulseek forum, I must publicly admit that THE ERROR WAS MINE. While reorganizing my files, I added a number to the music folders to keep them better organized, and this caused the link between Soulseek and my computer to break, as the file folders no longer existed under the names they were registered under. Therefore, for those who have this problem: CHECK that the folders still have the same name. I feel stupid, but thanks to this I have learned something new. I am not 100% focused on things either. Many thanks to all.
