Using search kills internet connection

So yeah, anytime i use soulseek's search function my internet connection breaks and I have to restart my pc to get it working again. It isn't always immediate and I am often able to download an album or two before losing connection if i am quick, but it is still painfully discouraging issue. I use nord vpn but i don't know if that has anything to do with the problem as the issue i am having is relatively new and i have been using nord for years. still, i wouldnt be too surprised if nord could have something to do with it

Any ideas on how to fix?
