The first amendment does not cover hate speech but there are laws that do allow it in certain circumstances. For instance that is how the KKK and the Black Panthers have their rallies. They are allowed to speak and say what they want to a certain extent as long as it does not start a riot or cause any type of violence. and a poem setting it is not supposed to be allowed but it is up to whoever runs the forum. I don't agree with having racist rooms but the way I look at it is if you measure don't want to remove it don't go to that room. You can file a complaint with the FTC Andy department of justice but good luck with that.

I beg to differ with you about what the first amendment protects. Nowhere in the text will you find anything other than the word “speech”. The first amendment protects ALL SPEECH. You can agree or disagree to what is being said. You can listen or not listen to what is being said. What you cannot do, while pretending to champion the 1st amendment to the Constitution of the United States, is decide what’s is or is not acceptable speech for someone else. I personally have no desire to go to a chat room called the aryan brotherhood anymore than to go to a room called BLM BUT if others do, it’s not my place to tell them yes or no. Just like you can agree or disagree with the above. Ain’t freedom grand?

I think we all can say whatever we want. The world is vast enough to alienate the entire mankind into a single way of thinking. I won't get into the racism discussion. The conversation should be that, on the one hand, people in general desire freedom of speech. On the other hand, however, we have companies such as FB, Twitter, and people in general, that demand some way of thinking to be banned from the internet and any kind of media. That paradox is what has been kept me thinking for the past years.

The white supremacist is a terrorist organization that has committed hundreds of murders and harmed tens of thousands of people.They are astute terrorists, whose supporters invoke the rights they deny others through violence. The discussion is not about closing down rooms where terrorists and their friends seek support for their terrorist organisation, but about when Soulseek's administrators will make the IP's and personal data of these individuals available to the FBI and Interpol for investigation.

It would be funny if Soulseek closed down not for the freedom to share files but for the "freedom" to justify racial, religious and sexual crimes. And let us remember that Soulseek is a network that operates not only in the United States but everywhere in the world, and there are places like the EU where no one believes that racists are the champions of freedom of expression.

I have been friends with KKK, neo-Nazis, Aryan Brotherhood, and Black Panthers.I have known and/or worked with Jihadists. Two things they all had in common-hate and violence. But they all respected my decisions and my opinion. Never did they whine and cry about free speech or why I didn't see it their way. It isn't just white supremacist and it isn't just black supremacists and it sure as heck not just Jihadists. It is ALL OF THEM and this world has enough hate in it to not only allow it but condone/support on the internet by businesses and sites that offer services like Soulseek. If I am correct-and I am sure I am since I am an activist who has taken several law classes and constantly rubs elbows with legislators, judges , and lawyers and who has succeeded in challenging large companies and governments-legally standing they are required to shut down rooms/chats/forums/topics that promote violence and hate. Well, at least as far as American laws are concerned and if they wish to continue their operations they have no choice in the matter unless they want to by liable and be sued and/or fined and shut down.

So please respect their wishes. If you do not like it don't use Soulseek. No one is twisting your arm. Simple as that.

First off who you calling boy? I am 44 and seen/done/been though a lot more stuff than most 100 year olds have and would give you nightmares and make you pee your pants. Second I fear no one but God. Third everyone was created equally no matter how you believe. The first amendment DOES cover hate speech. You're allowed to say racist shit, and spread misinformation on your own time, and the government can't stop you, for now, various sites can ban you for anything, and they often ban hate speech. Most of these sites also ban people for not having the right views and opinions.
