Alternative approach - Google Drive

I'm seeing a lot of threads about difficulties with getting up and running, and then on-going reliability issues..

As of now, we can all have 15GB of FREE space with EVERY google account. Why are we not using this for sharing? All we need is a central directory of everyone's drive URLs and we're done. Zero tech issues from that point forward. Or Dropbox (2GB free). Or Onedrive (5GB free). Or all of the above. We can use whatever provider you want as long as we can share content with a URL.

What am I missing?

That is extremely against Google's Terms of Service, and every single person publicly sharing commercial content on their Google Drive will get their Google account permanently banned, no resource, no appeals.  You will lose every single Google service associated with that account, and no way to recover whatever you had with it (all Gmail, Youtube videos/playlists, Google Docs, and any other services you used your Google login or Gmail to login to).

Totally agree with the others, its way against their TOS, even if you dont get caught its still a huge risk for both you and anyone who downloads.  Even having non-shared copyrighted material stored up there can get you in trouble with them. 

If you just want to 'share folders' and not use something like SLSK ( which makes things far better organized ) there are some darkweb alternatives which are sort of like the old "Mega" that would not get you banned.   ( and i just looked, seems Mega is still around.  Who would have thought..  and you get free 20gb )
