SoulseekQt-2017-2-20 no longer works on Windows XP ?

I have upgraded from SoulseekQt-2016-4-24 to SoulseekQt-2017-2-20 and after I try to run the new version on Windows XP 32-bit, this error mesage pops up:

The procedure entry point Direct3DCreate9Ex could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d9.dll

Is there something that can still be upgraded on Windows XP that will solve this problem ?
