I love soulseek for those impossible to buy rarities, but I think some users have gone too far by buying up tracks of small artists like me then sharing them here.  One EP sold four copies on Bandcamp yet it's here on SoulSeek.  How do I get a block on search results for my music?

I think you're looking at it the wrong way. It's like free worldwide advertising, that will easily outweigh any loss sales you would have gotten had it not been shared on soulseek. In fact the more I think about it, you should be happy the community likes your music enough to share it. Look at that lame matallica guy from the napster glory days, nobody agreed and even mocked him, (he did deserve it), if you think you are being deprived out lots of money because your music being shared on soulseek... i'm sorry you can't see the forrest from the trees.

I often find new music on soulseek and then buy them in bandcamp if I like it, Soulseek is for music enthusiasts, and we above everyone else understand the impact music sales have on artists, especially since streaming services make it impossible to make a living from it anymore. We are not the problem. We might even be the solution. (circlelejerk)

If you are concerned seeing your music out there, you always can reach out to whoever is sharing it via slsk.
More likely than not, they will stop sharing it if asked nicely, but it is alway up to them in the end. They might not even look at their messages.
Also, it is likely that you will actually be writing to one of the 4 people that did buy your music.

If your music is good enough people will eventually spend money on it in whatever capacity they want, digital, physical, shows, merch or simple donations. If you block your music from being shared you at best prevent some people from hearing it, they're not gonna spend money on your music as an alternative to being able to download it. So, if you don't want your music to be heard; sure try and block it. If you want your music to earn money; invest more time, energy and talent into it, if you can.

I was pretty happy to find my music on soulseek to be honest haha, As someone that uses the platform its only fair, I dont mind getting a couple of buys via bandcamp but seeing it on soulseek shows its worth being shared and will potentially lead to more people playing the track out which will potentially lead to more sales on newer tracks in the long run imo

see it this way:
users downloading your EP probably would never have heard your EP if they hadn't found it on Soulseek, nor would they have bought it on Bandacamp.
When I find something good on Soulseek I buy it to have it on my Bancamp app and other people could do it too.
having stuff you produced on Soulseek is in fact quite good for "small" artists: you reach a number of listeners way greater.
I remember electronic music artists back in the early 2000's spreading their own stuff on here

Fuck no. I just published four unreleased albums by a noise band in 2023 and 2024 and I want them OFF soulseek!
I will not lift from any more of my collection until this stop.  Their attorney, Allan Korn, is a bitch who will only pull your shit down if you have it registered under federal copyright and can provide the catalog number.
If anything, I should just contact Gene Simmon's PR agent and show him what's going on with this service.
Let's be real,  Soulseek is a bunch of free loading moochers who often download from youtube using a browser add on and throw it up on there.

Over the years, I made several recordings surface for a specific musician.  Those tracks are now on soulseek being listed as promos or albums that never existed in the 90s and 2000s. People day dream up imaginary bootlegs and releases. They make fake shit with tracks I upload.

Fuck this community. Most of them live in the 3rd world to begin with.

Agreed. Of course in the old days, if you listed to non-mainstream you had to take a risk ordering the record and hope it wasn't crap. Sure, we do have things like band-camp and YT now which helps beyond belief, but its far easier to search around here and find potential stuff to like. And if so, i pitch in some $ to the artist.

So, they were going to sell 3 or 4 copies each on Bandcamp? 8 copies maximum?

>> Soulseek is a bunch of free loading moochers
Yes. It is.

If you tell me who the bands are, I will listen to them on bandcamp, and buy the music if I like it.

Sorry, even if its the best music ever created in all of history of the universe, with his attitude he deserves nothing.  Well, other than perhaps something i cant say on here.

Considering you can listen and download files for later ( if you know how, its really not that hard ) from BC, YT, spotify, whatever,  what is here on SLSK is really no different, it just gives you one more avenue to reach potential customers.
