i don't understand or speak very well english but i will try.

I can not download yet I am well connected to soulseek. when i go into options, check the ports I have the following message: IP:85.168.17.1 Port: 56805/tcp CLOSED. Your router and/or Soulseek client needs to be configured correctly. 

You may want to check this list of port forwarding guides for instructions specific to your router model.

Don't forget that you need to restart your client if you modify your listening port.

Hi, you need to go into your Router's port forwarding section and add  the port number. Which in your case is 56805.

Try that first step, and let us know how you get on.

ignore Soulseek for the moment. That isn't the issue.

You need to login to your hardware router, the device attached to the phone line where your Internet connection is coming into the house.

Once logged onto your router, go to the Port Forwarding section, and add an entry for Soulseek, and set the Client port to be 56805.

You also need to enter a Server port connection too, which is usually something like 2242.

If you asked to add an IP address, use the one mentioned above: :85.168.17.1

Save the setting, now your router and Soulseek client will be communicating on the same port, resulting in an OPEN TCP port.

Please advise the make and model of your router. I think your Internet provider is talking through a hole in his head.

my router is the 4K THD box. The problem is that to enter the router settings they tell me to connect the router to my macbook pro cable Ethernet but not possible because on mac there is no ethernet port.

OK, firstly, you don't need Ethernet to connect to your router. You should be able to connect via wireless.

All routers have web enabled administration.

You need to know what your router's IP address is, and your router username and password to get on.

Once you know those details, go to your web browser, enter the IP address into the URL field, it should return the router login page.

Enter your details ans hopefully, you are logged on.

Once you get to this stage, write back to this thread.. and we'll move onto the next stage.

ok, follow these instructions:

Go to: https://portforward.com/neufbox/nb4-ser-r0/

The neufbox is the closest model to the SFR that I can find.

On this page are instructions for port forwarding for your router.

Follow the instructions from Step 3 onwards.

In your router click on:

Reseau, NAT

In the fields immediately underneath

NOM = Soulseek (this is just a name reference for you, nothing more)

Protocole = TCP

Ports Externe = 56805

Adresse IP de destination = 85.168.17.1

Ports de destination = 56805

Activation = tick/check in the box

Click ADD (red button)

Now go to Soulseek client, and recheck TCP open/close.

Name = Soulseek

Start and End Ports = 56805

Protocl = TCP

Local IP = whatever is the Local iP Address of your computer/laptop etc *

(Do you know what this is? Typically it will be 192.168.... something or rather.)

Click ADD.
