Soulseek and Private internet access

Hi all, i have reinstalled soulseek after a few years of not using it due to its crappy setup with ports, i gave up on it then but decided i would give it another go. i run pia vpn and i can get one one port open but never the obfuscated port, or i can get the obfuscated port open but not the listening port. weird. has anyone actually got this bloody programe working with pia? i have port forwarded both ports in my router. i have even tried running soulseek with router in dmz mode and allso with firewalls turned off both in windows and in the router and still i have this issue. i can search other people's files but im here to share as well as download. i have scoured the web and pia's forums as well. there are only a couple of posts with people saying they have achieved this but they never say what settings they have used or how they did it which is annoying. i have an Asus DSL-AC68U modem router. any help would be appreciated.

You're the 3rd person with this setup i see that has the same issue.
Don't focus on your router, with vpn you do not have to setup your port forwarding in your router. You do need to check your local firewall, on there you need to allow incomming traffic on both ports.
For the vpn you need to make sure you enabled the upnp and nat-pmp option. These settings should send a request to your vpn to enable port forwarding to you application.
I'm not working with pia, i use ibvpn and with that vpn i also have issues that ports are closed. I always have to connect/disconnect the vpn a few times or connect to another p2p server before it works.

Sorry for the late reply these messages went straight to the junk mail folder hahah. cheers for your replies. i will look at my settings and see how it goes. pretty sure i have those settings enabled. people seem to be able to download from me and i from them but i am not sure if i am getting all the hits when i search for stuff. i remember when i used to use the Old Server on soul-seek i used to get thousands of hits on stuff i searched for. maybe there are not as many people using it these days i am not sure. cheers for all your help mate.!

I use PIA and soulseek works. I had not used it in awhile and reinstalled high sierra and a fresh copy of soulseek and it was not working, then I just exited PIA and reinstalled and it soulseek started working, no need to port forward on my router, but I did turn on a port forwarding button in the PIA advanced settings.

Cheers for your reply mate. i have soulseek working with pia but the obfuscated is still blocked so im guess  that some search results are not comming back to me or that others dont get results from me ? who knows.

nicotine+ solves all of my issues and some. works awesome with a single port vpn like PIA http://www.nicotine-plus.org/
