Hello,

hope everyone is safe & sound - just wanted to do a test-drive of the Openhab 3.0.0.M1 build, but seems the Souliss binding is no longer working (raised issue #18 for it). Anyone had any luck making it work?

Thanks in advance, kind regards,

Zoltan

Hi Zoltan,
just to inform you that some days ago a link to a beta oh3 binding was published by his author Luca:

I have done some limited testing of this binding on a docker-based temporary installation of openHAB 3 and from what little I can see it seems to work. Consider that I only have T16s.
Luca asked for some feedback inside the Italian group, if you or others are interested...

All the best Marco

This link is not valid anymore, is there an alternative for this download?

Luca is trying to merge this with the Openhab repository so it can be downloaded from Openhab directly: https://github.com/openhab/openhab-addons/pull/10034

There’s no need to downgrade, just fetch the binding from my previous email and copy it to the addons folder. Hopefully it will be in the official repos shortly.

I just upgraded my RasPi with OpenHAB3 and was surprised that Souliss binding is not there (I didn't check it, I confess).

I won't downgrade back to OH2 (I can live some time without Souliss and OH connected, this is not life-saving environment :) ) but maybe I could help somehow to speed up binding release?
Any testing necessary (I have Docker installed, few sonoffs flashed with Souliss, few spare arduinos etc.)?

I downloaded ZIP v. 3.0.0 (https://github.com/lucacalcaterra/openhab-addons/archive/3.0.0.zip), but I can't see nothing with souliss in name, not even inside any file.
I also reviewed Luca's commits and was searching the git repository for "souliss" - no success.

I guess I need jar file.

Sorry, I thought it would be included in there. Well, you can either try the old binding here: https://github.com/lucacalcaterra/bindingopenhab2/releases or if you like, I can upload the file somewhere, but best would be to wait until his pull request is merged and you can get the binding by installing the latest development version.

Hi, I am working on the binding for openhab 3. I'm trying to get it approved as an official binding but it's a long way to go, a lot of work to do. Can anyone good at java help me out? Thank you !

Hi,

I’m no expert but if there is anything that I can help with let me know. I was following the comments on GitHub and most of them seem like minor updates.

Thanks for your hard work!

Hi,

I have upgraded but getting ping timeouts:

10:02:43.993 [WARN ] [al.protocol.UDPListenDiscoverRunnable] - UDP SocketTimeoutException close: null
10:02:45.898 [INFO ] [hab.event.ThingStatusInfoChangedEvent] - Thing 'souliss:gateway:77' changed from OFFLINE (COMMUNICATION_ERROR): Gateway souliss:gateway:77 do not respond to 4 ping to OFFLINE (COMMUNICATION_ERROR): Gateway souliss:gateway:77 do not respond to 5 ping

I'm running Openhab via the docker container on a Synology NAS. Before that, I was using the binary that you posted with version 3.1 official and it did work (although I think I saw some UDP-related entries in the logs, but I was able to turn lights on and off, etc).

Not sure if anyone else has the same problem?

@zoltan Try to enable full debug logs on openhab and see if there are UDP socket connections issue; in the past i had problems with UDP socket on openhab container in docker... have you run as privileged or unprivileged container ?
Before docker... can you try to launch on a plain host ?

Hi Luca,

I tried running it as root but that didn't fix it. I have a raspberry somewhere, I will try to find an SD card for it and see if it works from that.

Thanks for your help, kind regards,

Zoltan

It works from the raspberry. I will debug this further (my docker is in a different network than the souliss) and let you know.

Hi,

I noticed openHAB 3.2.0.M4 yesterday and upgraded my RasPi. I was missing Souliss binding :)
Short climb on "learning curve" (I was using text definitions in old openHAB versions, but decided to use UI in OH3) - and I have my "smart garage" working again.
I'm pretty happy how seamless it was.

My config (in case someone has questions):
a) Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2 running openHABian 5.10.63-v8+
b) ESP-12 as a gateway (ESP8266)
c) Sonoff 4CH (ESP8266) in my garage (relays currently control lights, and open/close gate switch)

I was using Arduino 1.8.13, Souliss 7.2.1 and ESP boards 2.7.4 (downgraded due to some libarary incompatibility I experienced).

Hello,

I made it work with Docker, it doesn't even need root. The 2 things it needed:
1. the local port # had to be set to an actual value in the things config (e.g. preferredLocalPortNumber=23000)
2. all the items had to be updated to match the case sensitive naming convention (so from {autoupdate="false", channel="souliss:t11:77:0-6:onoff", homekit="Lighting"} became this: {autoupdate="false", channel="souliss:t11:77:0-6:onOff", homekit="Lighting"})

One thing to note, even though I set the local port to be 23000, on the router I see traffic between port 230 on the Souliss gateway and port 230 on the Openhab, but I don't mind if it works :)

Cheers,

Zoltan

Hi,
just start testing OpenHab 3.3.0 with Souliss Binding dowloaded from OpenHab Store.
I tried T11, T18 and T13 and seems to work. As soon as Thing and Item are created, I got status on the item.
If I add a T52, item still always remain to NULL and as soon as I add Item I got this exeption into the logs:

Hi,
just did some test and find working solution. OpenHab 3.3.0 with Souliss Binding 3.2.0 on a Linux box (VMWare with debian 11.3)
My best is to install openhab on Docker, but on docker souliss binding do not working fine. I created container with --net=host parameter so OH's Docker Container is not behind Docker's NAT but is exposed on the network of the host. Using same software releases the souliss binding with docker does not work fine. Sometime it goes offline, sometime Bridge is online but Other Things including Gateway are in UNKNOWN status and Typical on the nodes are not respondig to the Binding or are not updated.
So for now I stay on a Debian Box, but I would like to move to a Docker container. I am evaluating if using 3.2.0 binding on a Debian Boz, or install my OH 3.3.0 on docker and keep my old OH 2.5.0 Linux Box with only Souliss Binding 1.x and Remote Binding for OH 3.3.0

Regards
Marco

Hi,
my conclusion is too fast, issue became at first OH Reboot.
For now I stay to OH 3.3.0 withe access to my old OH 2.5 with souliss binding 1.1, I just did all config and setup on OH3.3.0 and importing restoring backup to an older version I don't know what could happen
In this case I can move to docker my OH3 installation
I am waiting for fix with OG 3.3.0. Do you have a plan or an idea when you are able to fix?

Thanks

Marco

Fixed. you must use latest 3.4-snapshot (or wait for 3.4 stable)
