Hi everyone, it has been a long time since anyone has posted anything! I hope all is well. Our daughter Mackenzie has made it thru kindergarten and they are putting her through to 1st grade. It has been a great year for her thus far, however I still think she is way behind in her academics. She can barely write letters, numbers, and read. This year she has accomplished writing the first 3 letters of her name and she can identify all the numbers up to 50. It is so great to see her trying so hard but also sad to see how behind she is compared to other children her age. I am so incredibly grateful to all the special education teachers who have worked with her and will continue to work with her next year. Unfortunately, she still is not fully potty trained, she wears diapers on occasion being she has accidents quite often. Hopefully, this summer we can get her on the right track!!
I still think it would be GREAT for everyone to get together and meet for a picnic this summer. It is nice to know other families who can understand and offer support. Parenting is not easy and even more difficult with a child with Sotos Syndrome. Anyone have any suggestions? I look forward to hearing back from you all J I have attached a recent picture of Mackenzie and her dad!
