So I have information about our camping trip! The campsites at
Chambers Lake are all booked up. No need to worry though. We can
camp on national forest land right off the road as long as we are 100
ft. away from water. So we can camp off of Laramie River Road (CR
103) which goes right by the lake. We can also try to camp 6 miles up
the road at Tunnel Campgrounds which is first come first serve
camping. Since it is Labor Day weekend this may be hard though. So
for all of you that feel you need an outhouse and are stressing that
we will more than likely be camping off of the road do not fear!
There are plenty of outhouses near by at Tunnel Campground, Westbranch
Trailhead and other close trailheads as well as waterpumps. So here
are the details:
When: September 3rd and 4th (anyone that wants to stay more nights
can). We will meet at the church parking lot at 6pm and then carpool/
caravan from there on Friday. Sunday morning we will worship and then
head home stopping at Glen Echo for breakfast.
Who: All of you and any friends you want to bring! Please let me
know though if you are coming for food planning purposes.
What to Bring: Yourself, your camping gear (i.e. tent, sleeping bags,
cookware, fishing gear, games, etc.), friends. I have a small
backpacking stove that I will bring to cook with but it won't be
enough if we have lots of us. We are not on a fire ban right now so
we may be able to have an open fire to cook over and enjoy. If you
are unsure of what to pack or bring please le tme know and I can help
you plan.
Meals:
Friday night - bring a sack dinner. This way we can focus on getting
tents set up. I will bring a fun dessert for everyone to partake
after we have set up.
Saturday morning and lunch - on your own. If you want to plan a meal
with others that is fine but I think it's easiest for everyone to do
their own meals for these two. Breakfast ideas; pancakes and eggs,
bagels and fruit. Lunch ideas; sandwiches, granola bars, fruit.
Saturday dinner - Let's coordinate this one. How about a big
spaghetti dinner. We can split up who brings what. Once I know who
all is going to come I will let everyone know what to bring.
Sunday morning - we will have a worship time and then let's stop at
Glen Echo on our way back for breakfast.
Please let me know if you have thoughts, questions, or concerns. Also
let me know if you are coming!
Thanks!
Jenny
