The next meeting of the Sydney OpenSolaris User Group will be held on
Thursday May 3rd, 6pm - 8pm.
At this meeting we are extremely lucky to have
Simon Phipps presenting as our guest speaker. http://blogs.sun.com/webmink/
Simon is Sun's Chief Open Source Officer and has been the key driver
behind Sun's relentless pursuit of open sourcing as much of it's
software
stack as quickly as possible.
Simon is a founding member of the OpenSolaris Community Advisory Board
and a member of last years OpenSolaris Governing Board (OGB).
Simon will talk about the current activity of the OpenSolaris
community; what are
some of the current key initiatives and his views of what lies ahead
for Solaris
in the future.
Simon will also dicsuss Sun's recent employment of Ian Murdock, Debian
founder
and previous CTO of the Linux Foundation. http://ianmurdock.com I am
sure Simon
will have interesting views of what Ian's impact could be upon
OpenSoalris.
As usual, it will be a great evening to share stories with your fellow
Solaris
and opensource software advocates!
The event will take place at the Sun Solution Centre on the Ground
Floor,
33 Berry Street (cnr Pacific Hwy), North Sydney from 6pm - 8pm
Beer (decent beer!), pizza and nibbles provided.
