Hello, Sydney OSUG ...

As you know, the User Group Community has been merged with the
Immigrants Community and the Marketing Community into the new Advocacy
Community Group: http://opensolaris.org/os/community/advocacy/
This is part of the OpenSolaris Community re-organization as specified
by the OGB. Background conversations relating to our own merger here:
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/advocacy/discussions/

Part of this merger includes the migration of all the existing user
groups to projects. So, instead of having a page within the old User
Group Community, you'll be getting your own project space on the site to
lead and manage. I'll set that up for you. Then you can copy your
content over, and I'll put in url re-directs and then close the old page
(and eventually close the entire old UG community).

I'm pinging the UG lists today to remind people. I'll start creating
projects next week, and I'll keep them hidden. I can open each UG
project after each group gets its content copied over. Since there are a
lot of groups and steps, I'll keep track of the migrations here:
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/advocacy/usergroups/ug-leaders/

So, are you ready to get your user group project?

Ok, cool, here you go ...

Project: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/sosug/

It's hidden so only the leaders (currently alanh) can see it. Project
lead reference: http://opensolaris.org/os/communities/lead_reference/

After you move any of your old content over to the project space, let me
know and I'll have Derek put the url re-direct in and I'll delete your
old page and you'll be done. I'm assuming that this group will continue
using the Google list, but if you want a mailman list in the future, let
me know.

UG migrations tracked here:
http://opensolaris.org/os/community/advocacy/usergroups/ug-leaders/
I'll update your group's status as we go along in the process.

Hi all,

Do we want to migrate to mailman or keep on using google groups?

Show of hands please...

I am fine with either.... although if the mailman helps integrate
better with the overall migration project, so be it...

As I see things, the mailman group would make us easier to find and for that reason alonebe worth pursuing.

Just a quick note, Google Groups offers RSS and/or ATOM feeds which is
great way to follow a group.

Would the mailman solution support this feature ?

Regards,

Peter
