HelloMy old computer crashed a few days ago, the motherboard is dead, the OS cannot be revived. A new computer has been ordered. I have read in other forums that you can transfer your NOD32 licence to a new PC without hassle. But one contributor at Wilders Security Forums says:
If your old computer is dead, you cannot uninstall ESET NOD32 from it. Can the licence be used on the new machine without uninstalling from the old one? The old motherboard and whatever is on it will never be used. Thanks.
Here are the instructions to transfer ESET to a new computer. You don't need to worry about the uninstall part since your old computer does not boot. You will also not need to worry about what bit you are using. Our live installer will auto detect and install the correct version.
I'm having trouble renewing my licence - I have a new key I got after purchasing a renewal, but when entering it the update wizard alerts me that I don't have an internet connection (which is not true) and thus cannot update (error code ECP.25). It once recognized my internet connection, but then alerted me that ESET servers were unavailable, and was not able to renew the licence.
- under Help and support -> Details for customer care, enable advanced logging
- enter your license key in the activation screen
- when an error is displayed, stop logging
- gather logs with ESET Log Collector and post the generated archive here.
I'm updating that while the antivirus notified me that my protection is lost, it kept on updating and working for a while, and now didn't start when my computer started and seems like it's not installed. I tried to download the installer, but when it starts it keeps on showing a similar message - that it doesn't find an internet connection.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling Eset using the Eset Uninstaller Tool. Instructions on its use are here: =en_US&viewlocale=en_US . When the tool completes, it will display if the uninstall was successful. Then boot into Windows normal mode and install the version you downloaded.
I have an ESET NOD32 licence on my old Win11 PC. Following the instructions on the website I disconnected my old device, uninstalled NOD32 for the old PC and went to my ESET Home page to connect my new PC. However ESET Home shows the licence as still in use although no devices are shown connected to the subscription. I can't find anyway to release my licence.
I have reported this to Technical Support using the web page form twice over the past week but have received no replies. The form asks where I am (Hong Kong) but Hong Kong isn't listed so I have to put China. I note from another topic that China Tech Support doesn't actually exist. So perhaps someone can help here? Thanks
It's the other licence under my account, the one that expires on 6/6/25. See attached image. There are no devices shown as attached but the licence is shown as being in use. So I can't remove the old PC nor can I add my new PC.
It doesn't appear that there is any technical support available to customers from ESET nor from my local ESET agent. Whether that is true just for Hong Kong or is a global problem , I can't say. It will definitely influence whether I stick with ESET when my licence is up for renewal next year.
I'm truly sorry to hear about your bad experience with the local support. Please provide me with the ticket IDs so that we can check what happened. It is our goal to provide quality and timely support to our users. While it may take a while to get a response to a ticket at times when there's a high load on the support, it shouldn't take like week or two. Hopefully we'll be able to find out what happened and make sure that any future communication with your local support will be substantially better.
Statistics shows that more and more virus infected emails were sent from staff and students' home PCs. To protect our campus network from virus attack, anti-virus software is made available to our staff and students for home use. Under the licence agreement (valid till 19 Aug 2025), our staff and students could use the ESET NOD32 AntiVirus software at home. Users can download the software with their network account and password to their computer at home.
Students are required to seek the consent from the Programme Leader while staff should seek the consent from the Head of Department (HoD) for the additional licence. Consent can be made via email and a copy of the email in PDF format should be submitted with the application. OCIO will send a confirmation email to successful applicants.
You should also update your Windows regularly so that the latest critical patches are installed which is as important as having an anti-virus software. Please visit FAQ "How to invoke Windows Update?" for details.

I'm maintaining around 10 PC's with Windows XP as their Operating System. Currently we're using antivirus within each PC. Now I want to upgrade our antivirus. I'm searching antivirus with these criteria
I have used Symantec Antivirus Endpoint Protection on nearly 500 workstations. There are problems here and there -- but once you know the few minor annoyances, and the Symantec way to manually remove the software (which is just a series of registry entries) it is great overall.
I personally found Nod32 to be the best at speed and memory however the latest version is not as good as it used to be - I think they are now going down the Symantec trap and spending more on marketing than product development.... It is still better than a number out there, however, I just hope I can say that in 2 years time
If you currently have no antivirus and can wait, I would take a look at Microsoft "Morro", (or try to find the beta) I have been using it for the past couple of months and have been VERY impressed. It uses next to no memory (even less than nod32), and is fast... As far as I know, it has no central management, but it is a very good bit of kit.
We've been using the Trend Micro "Worry Free Business Security Suite" and have been reasonably happy with it. It's inexpensive compared to the Symantec / McAfee / CA offerings and appears to suck less. (All antivirus sucks, to some extent, just by the nature of the problem it's trying to solve. Having operating systems that did a better job of not executing arbitrary code would be a better thing, but that's better left for a [SOAPBOX] post...)
I've had problems with every antivirus I've had to use except AVG and ClamAV (although Clam is designed to be used on Unix systems to scan email more than anything else; it's an on-demand scanner that is best used in systems as a plug-in such as having your mail agent call the scanner to scrutinize incoming files).
We've tried them all and the winner is Trend Micro Worry Free for small biz. Their OfficeScan client server for med biz is the same thing but for larger groups. From a single Windows console running some flavor of MS Server, you can deploy all of the clients at once throughout multiple domains (if you have more than one) via the domain administrator acct/pwd. After all deployments report back successful, the software is completely self-managing. All you need to really do is tweak some of the settings like update/scan schedules, scan type (intelli/full/full+heu), and quaran/del priorities. The software tracks expiration dates and autoreminds you via email with hyperlinks to the renew webpage for your account with all fields auto-populated for simple hassle-free renewals. Appears to catch 100% of viruses/spyware and blocks known websites with live virueses. Even a rigorous test through many porn and crack/keygen sites yielded a clean workstation with full transparency (because we turned off the big red alert option in the domain policy) as hundreds upon hundreds of virus/spyware were quietly deleted in the background. A nice feature for IT admins is the blocked website entry where you can add your own list of sites to deny in addition to the built in, updated list. Appears to use very little CPU resources (except for scanning of course) and does not interfere with games, dvd ripping/burning and video production.
I've been very happy with the latest Outpost Security Suite from Agnitum. It has antivirus and a firewall. After having fought with significant problems in the offerings of TrendMicro, McAfee and Norton, I have been very happy with my choice. In my limited need for their customer service, I have been satisified.
