Hello Southern Oregon Environmental Educators,
I’m reaching out to share two opportunities through Siskiyou Field Institute and would be grateful if you could help spread the word.
Outdoor Leaders Institute (OLI) – Summer 2026
OLI offers transformative outdoor experiences for youth ages 14–18. SFI’s 6-day summer wilderness course runs June 22–26, 2026, and features backpacking in the stunning KS region.
During their OLI journey, youth challenge themselves by carrying only essential items, navigating varied terrain, and working together as a team. Along the way, they build confidence, develop leadership skills, and deepen their connection to the natural world. Participants also experience meaningful moments of solitude and reflection in wild landscapes.
OLI helps students grow in:
Leadership and teamwork
Resilience and confidence
Environmental awareness
Outdoor Career skills
Communication and problem-solving skills
If you know high school students who might benefit from this experience, we would love for you to share this opportunity.
Now Hiring: Seasonal Kitchen Lead (April 22 – June 1)
SFI is also hiring a seasonal Kitchen Lead to support our residential Outdoor School programs. This position oversees preparation of all meals for 30–50 youth and adults, manages food inventory and ordering, and plays a key role in creating a welcoming, nourishing program environment. Ideally, this person lives within a 45-minute drive of Selma, OR.
