Hi SOREEL --
SOLC is bringing nature journaling author and educator John (Jack) Muir Laws to Ashland in October! Among other speaking engagements, we are organizing a community lecture on the SOU campus for Sunday 10/11/26 in the big science lecture hall. Our hope is to bring in co-sponsors for this event so that we can make tickets available to the public for free, and still pay Jack for his time and expertise.
Co-sponsoring will be on a sliding scale, from $100-$300, and your organization or group can choose how much to pay. Co-sponsors will get:
Named/tagged in all public-facing outreach and social media posts that SOLC puts out
30 seconds (timed!) to introduce your organization to the audience at the beginning of the lecture, along with a slide to show during your introduction
Space for flyers/brochures/stickers on a shared community resources table at the event
Visibility at a high-profile lecture that is likely to draw a diverse crowd of outdoor and environmental enthusiasts
In addition to a financial contribution, we will ask co-sponsors to share information about the event with their own lists/communities. SOLC will manage all registration and ticketing.
More information about Jack’s work can be found at his website, www.johnmuirlaws.com, and at the Wild Wonder Foundation website, www.wildwonder.org. We will point attendees to Wild Wonder if they would like to make their own financial contribution.
More information about the lecture is below.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you’re ready to sign on as a co-sponsor.
Thanks so much!
Tara

Bio from his website:
John (Jack) Muir Laws is a scientist, educator, and author, who helps people forge a deeper and more personal connection with nature through keeping illustrated nature journals and understanding science. His work intersects science, art, and mindfulness. Trained as a wildlife biologist and an associate of the California Academy of Sciences, he observes the world with rigorous attention. He looks for mysteries, plays with ideas, and seeks connections in all he sees. Attention, observation, curiosity, and creative thinking are not gifts, but skills that grow with training and deliberate practice. As an educator and author, Jack teaches techniques and supports routines that develop these skills to make them a part of everyday life.
