Hi fellow educators and instructors!
Siskiyou Field Institute (SFI) offers adult learning courses that focus on connecting people to the wonders of the Klamath Siskiyou region. From birding and botany to geology, mycology, art in nature, woodcrafting and more, SFI’s field courses connect adults with place-based learning in the outdoors.We are now accepting Fall 2026 course proposals! If you have expertise in a nature-related field connected to the Klamath-Siskiyou region and are interested in teaching adults ages 18+, we would love to work with you. If you have a course idea that you or a coworker would like to teach, please submit a proposal via this google form before June 30th.
What you can expect when teaching a course at SFI:
- Instructor Payment: $175 for each full day of field instruction lasting 5 hours or more, and $28/hour for online instruction or field days lasting less than 5 hours. For classes that are over 70% full, an additional $20/extra student will be paid.
- Lodging: All Instructors are offered free lodging in one of SFI’s private rooms during their course.
- Facilities: Our classroom accommodates 20 students comfortably, and is equipped with a white board and projection screen. We also have an LCD projector, lapel mic and portable amplifier, and a set of various microscopes available for your use if desired.
Note: Courses can be taught on SFI 850 acer site in Selma OR or anywhere on approved lands in the region -- permit pending
