InAdobe Acrobat, the insert image function is easy to execute when you know what to do. Although the task is a simple one, you probably know that Adobes products are fairly expensive. A one-time perpetual license can cost you hundreds of dollars, and even an annual subscription doesn't come cheap.
For that reason, this post will show you how to insert an image into PDF using Adobe Reader for free. And if the Adobe Reader doesn't work for you, there are also Adobe Reader alternatives, Wondershare PDFelement - PDF Editor, which you can free download to insert pictures to PDF.
The Pro version of Adobe Acrobat is a robust PDF editor with basic and advanced features that include editing, annotations, creating, signing, securing, forms management, OCR, document comparison, and so on. It is a comprehensive tool, no doubt, and is the clear market leader in this space.
The free version of Adobe Reader doesn't allow you to add images to PDF without a subscription. Luckily, you can use its Stamp feature as a workaround, which enables you to paste a picture into PDF as a stamp. Here are the steps you can try.
The workaround process above works with Adobe Reader 2017 but, logically, it should work on later versions as well since you can still add an image as a stamp annotation on newer iterations like Adobe Reader DC.
If you're looking to insert images wherever you like, delete or replace images, or crop images in PDFs, but find Adobe Acrobat too pricey, Wondershare PDFelement - PDF Editor might be a more budget-friendly option for you.
An even better tool to use is PDFelement. It's far more affordable than Adobe PDF products offers the same feature set and is much easier to use because the UI is a lot more intuitive than the clunky, cluttered layout of Adobe Acrobat.
Launch PDFelement - even the free trial version lets you edit documents. Open the PDF file into which you want to insert the image. Click the "Edit" button at the top and then click on the "Add Image" icon in the toolbar below it.
Aside from all these benefits, PDFelement offers a ton of annotation tools, security options like encryption and redaction, page and file organization, and other features that cover the gamut of your document management needs. The best part is that you can save your workflows on the cloud and access them on Windows and macOS, as well as iOS and Android. That means you can enjoy cross-device and cross-platform coverage with a seamless user experience as you transition from one device to another.
Hi,
I want insert a image/logo in pdf document at the top left corner.
I am using "copy image from from clipboard " in pdf and then using click with X and Y coordinate to achieve, but this is not at all reliable.
Can you suggest any other way.
Thanks in advance
HI Pablito,
it is working manually. now it is working normally. I have an other question.
I refered " Identifying UI Elements in PDF With Accessibility Options" documented and tried to change the adobe reader settings. uiexplorer identify elements correctly. but when i relaunch the reader again, uiexplorer do not identify individual elements.
does it mean, these settings has to be done every time you launch adobe reader. i am using acrobat reader 19.02 version.
Thanks In advance
When I insert a large pdf into a drawing. I get the error "Failed to save an OLE object (Adobe Acrobat Document) inside the drawing. Consider inserting a smaller file. Can't save my drawing with the pdf image inserted into the drawing. I need to insert images into my drawing to represent schematics The files need to come from larger diagrams PDFs to get the small details to show. However, the size of the imported file does not have to be larger.
I was able to insert the a PDF object that was 40x40 when I used Windows 7 and using Windows 10 version 1607. When I switched to Windows 10 1809 or 1909 I am no longer able to save the drawing with the image in it. I get the error referenced above.
As a separate page or in an existing page? If it's as a separate page open the pdf and image in Preview. Drag the thumbnila of the image from it's open window into the open window of the PDF. Have the Preview option activated in both windows.
I have been using the 1 of the 2 copies of Adobe Acrobat Pro in our office for over a year because of the inability to "insert an image into a pdf in preview" ... I was at wit's end yesterday when I searched the Internet again and found your post at the bottom of a thread ... I did what you said, google FormulatePro and installation and figuring it out took under 5 minutes. No more need to be tied to a legal expensive Adobe Acrobat Professional or be forced to do what everyone else says about converting your PDF into an image. Everyone, listen to Skeptical Nerd.
I found this post because I had to get the same kind of task done. I found that Gimp was a nice solution: just open the two pdf files (or the pdf file and the image file) with it and you'll be able to copy/paste/move/scale (and so on...) any part of one of them into the other!
I just did it using a Thanksgiving turkey image as my signature for a Thanksgiving song I wrote - go to Fill and Sign - Place signature - Use Image - Browse - then bring up image you want to use -- should be a PDF also and after placing it you can size it and move it around before saving the doc. Hope this helps...
Image objects let you add a read-only image that userscannot edit on the form. This object is useful for enhancing thelook of the form. For more information about this type of imageobject, see Using images.
Image fields can be bound to an external data source or theycan be scripted. Image fields support the merging of external imagedata through binding. When the data source contains a value foran image field, the image is rendered in the form. With this capability, images can be selected and loaded dynamically. For example, a formcan enable users to choose catalog items and, through scripting, apicture of each item could be displayed as a result. If the formcontains an empty image field, the path to the image identifieswhich image to display in the form.
An initial (default) image to insert at run timecan be specified by either a file name or a Uniform Resource Locator(URL). Initially, the image is linked, which means that it is storedseparately from the form and displayed when the form is opened.Alternatively, the image data can be embedded in the form when the formis created.
Keep in mind that if the image file or a link to the image fileis in the data file, the image only appears when the form is renderedand is not visible when you are designing the form. Also, if youplan on using the form offline, select the Embed Image Data optionin the Field tab in the Object palette so that all components ofthe form are available.
When you embed theimage in the form, a copy of the image information is stored inthe form. If the image field will be used to load images dynamically whenthe form is rendered, do not select the Embed Image Data option. To know more about the differences between embedding versus linkingimages, see this article.
Hi
To insert an image into a PDF, you need to use the Edit object tool located in the Content tab on the right. When selected the tool, place cursor over the page and right click (ctrl click on mac) and choose place image.
Locate your file and press OK, on completion you can reesize it by placing your cursor in the corners. You can also rotate it, and crop it too.
To paste an image into a PDF, you can no longer paste into Acrobat from an external program such as word, however you can copy and paste images from one PDF to another.
Hope this helps?
Hi,
You can do this using adobe acrobat application. All you need to do is open the pdf file that you wish to edit. Look for the "document" option on the menu and choose "insert pages" button. You can utilize this function to insert images in .gif, .tiff and .jpeg format. Locate the image on your computer and insert it on the area where you want it to be. You can have it either at the beginning or the end portion of the pdf file. You can also modify the page order once you are done importing the image. Choose the "file" tab and hit the "save" button.
You can also edit the pdf file on Word, Spreadsheet, Image and PowerPoint slides among others. Some prefer using the MS Word format but this can be tricky because the file can damage the layout of the file.
To copy/paste from another program like Word, first copy the image from Word. Then, select the Edit Text & Images command in Acrobat. Move your cursor to the location you want to paste the graphic, right-click, and select Paste.

I can't be the only person who imagined the office of the future, free from the confines of the eight and a half by eleven sheet (or A4, for my international friends), would have long since arrived. Instead, we've managed to land in an intermediate state of not paperless, but less paper.
