Get involved with SORBA Chattanooga! We are actively looking for
individuals interested in becoming involved our Board in 2011. Join us
for our next Chapter Meeting on Monday, September 13. Details below….

Ride: Franklin State Forest
When: Sat, September 11, 8:30am – 4:00pm
Where: Franklin State Forest (map)
Description: Ride the trails of Franklin State Forest, just north of
South Pittsburgh, TN. This often overlooks trail system boasts a 21
mile loop trail which contains some gently rolling hills and one nice
rock garden. This will be an intermediate ride. Bring plenty of water
and something to snack to eat while on the trail. Following the ride
we will be stopping in South Pittsburgh for a late lunch, before
making our way back to Chattanooga. We will be meeting in the Lookout
Valley (Tiftiona) WalMart parking lot at 8:30 am, and carpooling about
50 miles to the trail head. If you ride with someone, you should be
prepared to chip in a few bucks to help cover gas. If you have any

Ride: Weekly Thursday Evenings At Raccoon Mtn
When: Thu, September 16, 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Where: TVA Road, TN 37419 (map)
Description: SORBA-Chattanooga weekly mountain bike ride on Raccoon
Mountain are moving to Thursdays starting in July. Come join us for
and after work ride each Thursday (weather permitting). Meet in the
East Brow Parking Lot at 6 pm. After the ride many riders will head
downtown for dinner.

Trail Work: ESNP
When: Sat, September 18, 8:30am – 12:30pm
Where: ESNP (map)
Description: Time 8:30 - 12:30 Directions - Take the VW exit off of
75. @ the round a bout take a right. You will run into the gate. Bring
gloves , water and bike ( to ride afterwards) Lunch provided by SORBA.
We will be doing finishing work on the north loop. It takes just 3
workdays to receive a North Face trail wicking t-shirt. For more info

Celebrate National Public Lands Day with Trail Work, Ride and Cookout
at ESNP
When: Sat, September 25, 9am – 2pm
Where: Enterprise South Nature Park (map)
Description: We will be celebrating National Public Lands Day at
Enterprise South Nature Park. We will complete a few hours of trail
work before switching gears and riding bikes and celebrating with a
cookout. SATURDAY 8:30 to 2:00. Call Alan Johns 304-4886 or Barry

River Rocks Chattanooga Outdoor Festival
SORBA Chattanooga will lead evening rides during the festival.

Ride: Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day
When: Sat, October 2, 10am – 12:00pm
Where: Location TBD (Probably Harrison Bay)
Description: Celebrate Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day with SORBA-
Chattanooga at a location TBD. Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day, kid
friendly beginner clinic, guided rides of varying levels, hotdog cook
out, swag, and fun! The trail head is located just past the marina.
Look for our pop-up tent. This is a great FREE opportunity for you to
pass your passion for pedaling on to kids. Plan to go mountain biking
on the first Saturday in October - and bring a kid along for the ride!

Greenlife’s 8 Hours of Raccoon Mountain (Rocky Raccoon's Revenge)
When: Sat, October 9 , 9:00am – 5:00pm

Ride: Monte Sano State Park (AL)
When: Sat, October 23, 7:30am – 5:00pm
Where: Brownsboro, Alabama 35741 (map)
Description: Ride the trails of Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville,
AL. This impressive trail system contains over 25 miles of nice trail.
This will be an intermediate ride which will involved some rock
gardens and at least one long climb. Bring plenty of water and
something to snack to eat while on the trail. Following the ride we
will be stopping in Huntsville for a late lunch at the bottom of Monte
Sano Mountain, before making our way back to Chattanooga. We will be
meeting in the Lookout Valley (Tiftiona) WalMart parking lot and
carpooling about 85 miles to the trail head. If you ride with someone,
you should be prepared to chip in a few bucks to help cover gas.
