Big South Natural Recreation Area Mountain Bike Weekend

Hello all area mountain bikers, SORBA-Chattanooga in conjunction with
the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club, the Northeast Tennessee Mountain
Bike Association, Big South Fork Mountain Bike Club will be hosting a
weekend of camping and rides at Big South Fork on National Trails Day
Weekend, June 4-6, 2010. We will have more information as the event
approaches, but right now it appears that we will have special
permission to ride the Grand Gap Loop Trail on Saturday. This trail is
traditionally open to mountain bikes ONLY weekday, so this is truly a
special event. The Big South Fork Mountain Bike Club has been opening
additional trails to mountain bike travel and they are requesting that
all attendees spend about three hours working on trail maintenance
which will help move their efforts forward. The find folks at the
Appalachian Mountain Bike Club will provide lunch for everyone who
participated in the volunteer trial work. This weekend will feature
rides for everyone and we are expecting approximately 50 to 75
mountain bikers from across the state of Tennessee. There is not
charge to participate in any of the events other than your campsite
and whatever food and beverage you will consume except as already
noted. The group campground has been reserved for this event, and
therefore camping should be minimal.

Ride Tanasi Saturday June 19
When: Sat Jun 19 9:30am – 3pm Eastern Time

SORBA-Chattanooga will be leading a ride on the Tanasi trail system on
the Cherokee National Forest. We will start out riding the majority of
the trail of the Tanasi system and then stop back by our car. If there
an interest of riding more miles we will also ride the Brush Creek
trail. Bring a few dollars as we will likely stop somewhere for lunch

Trail Work Day at Booker T. Washington State Park

Help us perform some routine trail maintenance on the Booker T.
Washington State Park Trails. Much of our work will involve cutting
back the privet and overgrowth encroaching the trail. SORBA-
Chattanooga will be providing lunch to all volunteers.
