Hi, the XAMPP installation works just fine on MAC OS Yosemite (on my local notebook). But after Sophie installing I have got a empty screen. Sophie does not start. I have used the Sophie documentation for all steps (adaptation document directory, "sophie" read/write-permissions, mySql: new database "sophie", virtual host entries in httpd.conf) . After this with local.sophielabs.net I get a empty screen.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks. Stephan

Hi Stephan,

The white screen issue can have multiple causes.

(1) Please check if the apache mod_rewrite is enabled:
In the xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf you should find a line:
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
Please make sure that there is no hash (#) in front of the line.
Don't forget to restart XAMPP after making a change here.

(2) Something with the SoPHIE software can have gone wrong. Please check if the file <SoPHIE-Trunk>/var/log/application.log exists and states any error messages. Please post them to the mailing list if there are any.

(3) Which PHP version are you using? Which XAMPP version did you install?

If (1) does not help, I hope we can find a quick solution after having a look on (2) and (3).

Regards,
 Philipp

Hi Philipp,
thanks for your help.
I have checked
(1) the entry of mod_rewrite is enabled. There is no hash.
(2) File /var/log/application.log exists (entries see below).
(3) My Versions: XAMPP 5.6.3-0, PHP 5.6.3, sophie-3.0.3.tar (build-r2376-b920)

And this are the entries in Sophie application.log and XAMPP 5.6.3-0 access_log and error_log after start:

/var/log/application.log (date is implausible for me)
2014-08-14 13:46:22] app.ERROR: Uncaught Exception Exception: "Application configuration is missing." at /var/lib/jenkins/jobs/sophie/workspace/build/sophie/application/init.php line 324 {"exception":"[object] (Exception: Application configuration is missing. at /var/lib/jenkins/jobs/sophie/workspace/build/sophie/application/init.php:324)"} {"file":null,"line":null,"class":null,"function":null}

XAMPP access_log
Starting MySQL Database...
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/mysql/scripts/ctl.sh : mysql  started at port 3306
Starting Apache Web Server...
/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/apache2/scripts/ctl.sh : httpd started

XAMPP error_log
[Wed Dec 17 08:59:04.076438 2014] [core:notice] [pid 2619] AH00094: Command line: '/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/bin/httpd -E /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/logs/error_log -D SSL -D PHP'

Thank You very much. Stephan

Dear Stephan,

we have a similar problem with PHP version 5.6 on windows, but as linux seems to be working we assumed so would Mac OS.

The problem occurs in a part of the system that is generated by a library we use and it disapperes with an upgrade of the library. The next version will therefore be delivered with a newer version of that library.

The log entry in the application.log can be neglected, it is an entry generated by the build system and has also been removed for the next version.

For now I would suggest to use the XAMPP version 1.8.1 even though it might already be a little older. Please let us know if this solves the problem or if you still face problems. I am not a Mac user and only installed SoPHIE on a Mac once to test the general compatiblity. Therefore any suggestions regarding the documentation are very welcome too.

Best
  Achim
