As i know sophia won't be used as engine for tarantool any more. So i am interested, would sophia be developed in future.
And one more question. Is new engine open source?

Hi,

Yes. The next generation of Sophia is in development right now. Making it worth to try. Keep in touch :)
Sophia will always remain open-source.

Additionally, if you have any suggestions regarding features or maybe new ideas.
I'm always open for discussion.

Thanks)

Recently i looked Konstantin's lecture on HighLoad about tarantool and he told about some bad solutions in sophia architecture and why did you decide to replace it. Also he told about Vynil, is it new generation of Sophia or it is absolutely different things?
Thanks for your answers.

Vinyl can't be a next Sophia generation, because Tarantool has nothing todo with Sophia development.
Tarantool and Sophia are completely separate projects. Vinyl is based on Sophia sources and remade completely for a very tight Tarantool integration.
Actual reasons to switch to Vinyl were more political at the moment. Vinyl cannot be used without Tarantool as separate embedded
engine, so in some sense it is incorrect to compare them.

Anyway, I'm sure Tarantool team with Kostja have enough expertise to make a good Tarantool disk storage engine.
I wish them good luck :)
