Hello and welcome 2012 Class of Freshman Farmies!

It was so great to meet you all last night.  I can't wait to get some more time with all of you.   Thanks for all the wonderful, delicious, wholesome food last night.  My gut tells me we have a lot of good cooks this year too :).

Greenhouse seeding will be this Wed. 2/15 and Thurs. 2/16 from 9-Noon.  We will be seeding Kale, Lettuce, and Leeks this week.  You are also welcome to come for a portion of the shift if that works better for you.

Next week we also have greenhouse opportunities on Wed. 2/22 from 9-1 to seed Flowers, and Thur. 9-12 for Scallions and Swiss Chard.  Please send Evan (ev...@earthdancefarms.org) or I an email if you would like to participate.  You are also welcome to come for a portion of the shift if that works better for you.  Evan will be leading shifts next week so please keep his phone number with you just in case you have problems finding the place, (330)234-2072.

What to Bring:
  • Chopsticks to use as a dibble (planting tool), if possible, don't go out of your way
  • Wear layers, the greenhouse is heated but we may be going in an out, causing a draft.
  • Any snacks, beverages you may want.
  • Directions and phone numbers for Evan (330)234-2072 or I (970)221-0163, in case you have problems finding the greenhouse.
Lastly, we mentioned the opportunity to water the greenhouse Saturdays though the season for anyone who would like to get 1-2 hours a week that way.  Please let me know if you are interested and we can give it a try.  This would be most ideal for somebody who lives in the area.

Below are directions to the greenhouse which is also connected to our classroom space at N. County Tech.  Our first class at the N. County Tech Greenhouse/Classroom building is March 5th so keep these directions even if you are not attending seeding this week.  The greenhouse/classroom building is on the southeast end of the campus and you cannot see it from the road.  The physical address of N. County Tech is 1700 Derhake Rd. Florissant, MO 63033, but again this address will not get you to the greenhouse/classroom.   In addition to providing written directions, I was able to draw a blue line from Derhake to the greenhouse on the below linked Google Map.
