Oh yes, that is an issue that could come up. While my main intent is not to republish what has been published by them (news publishers) rather simply automatically add relevant news links along with headlines that can take my viewer to the news website.

The solution to this would be with a website named elink.io an easy to use RSS Feed reader and aggregator with an added twist of customising the whole look of your curated content and later embedding the Javascript code or Iframes right into your post.

Hello, I hope you can help me out with this issue. The rss/feed is showing up on my mobile app as notifications which is great, but it is not showing up in the website post. So my users see the notification on there phones, but when they click on the rss/feed it takes them to the webite and the rss/feed is not there.

You should try to follow the following steps if that helps:
(Please try the steps on a test install not on your production site)
- Deactivate WP RSS Aggregator plugin
- Create a new post type using Types with the same slug (wprss_feed_item) from Toolset -> Post Types/
- And then reactivate WP RSS Aggregator plugin

I didn't expect to see the Feed Item post type as an available Post Type in Views - and it isn't there. But I was surprised to see the Feed Sources IS there as an available post type (although it's of no use to me). So it seems something has been done to integrate with WP RSS Aggregator.

An alternative approach would be to use their Feed to post feature (as you describe here -content-post-typewp-rss-aggregator/). But it would be simpler all round to just have access direct to the Feed Items within Views.

The thing is that the WP RSS Aggregator plugin uses the post type wprss_feed_item to store the feed items but that post type is private to that plugin that is why its not showing up with the views or post type listing page.

With the Feed to Post add-on, when you import feed items into default posts or custom post types other than Feed Items, you can display them using your theme's archive template or with the help of a page builder plugin.

This means that any display options, ranging from showing the author name to displaying posts in a grid style can handled by the theme or page builder plugins. You could also use the Templates add-on for WP RSS Aggregator to quickly display posts in the style of a grid, excerpts, and thumbnails, or list.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the display of custom post-type archives is not handled by WP RSS Aggregator. This depends on your theme's custom post-type archive settings. You can find plenty of documentation on how to display custom post types in WordPress, starting with the WordPress Codex.

If you'd like one-on-one customization help related to your implementation of WP RSS Aggregator, you can hire our developer partners at Lorem or Codeable. Use the form on this page to get in touch with them.

However, please note that some page builders can cause performance issues on your site. You will need to apply the best performance optimization techniques to prevent your site from overloading your server's resources. At the same time, the optimization should not be too aggressive, since that can cause duplicate content to appear on your site.

This is the theory. Add custom tags in a code block with the needed data. With an external service, read in the RSS feed from the SS site. Transform it with XSLT into a finalized format. Other tools might be used as well. Then provide the transformed file via a URL.

Thanks @creedon! Appreciate the additional thinking. Going to look around a little and see what might be doable. Our hope is that the news aggregator we're having issues with might be able to recommend a workaround or a more specialized developer who could do something in the vein of what you're suggesting.

Each feed source needs to have a few general settings set. They let the plugin know what to do with the incoming posts. The default settings are the most commonly used, so in most cases, you can leave them as they are. However, modifying these settings gives you a lot of flexibility.

NOTE: Most of the below options are the same as those set in the Feed to Post's global settings under RSS Aggregator > Settings. The options selected in the individual feed source (as seen below) will override any of the general settings.

Incoming feed items can be stored in any of these post types. If you want to create a specific post type to store your feed items in, the Custom Post Type UI plugin makes it very easy for you to do so.

Since some feed sources only provide an excerpt of the full post published on the site. By activating this setting, the plugin will attempt to go around this by attempting to read the original post directly rather than import the feed item from the provided RSS feed.

By default, Feed to Post does not populate the excerpt field for the imported posts. By enabling this option, it will search for the feed item's short description and set it as the excerpt for the imported post.

NOTE: When using the premium full-text service (checking the "Force full content" option), the full-text script sets the entire post content as the excerpt. This is undesired in most cases, so we advise leaving the "Import Post Excerpt" option unchecked in such a situation (until we release the feature for it ourselves).

With this option enabled WP RSS Aggregator will also import iframe, embed, and object content found in posts. This option should be enabled if the content you plan to import contains things like videos from YouTube or Vimeo.

The use GUIDs option sets the plugin to uniquely identify feed items using the feed item GUID as opposed to the permalink. This option applies to RSS feeds that use the same permalink and have a GUID value.

Assuming that basically individual events are a custom post type would it be possible to use a plugin such as WP RSS Aggregator with the Feed to Post add on to convert an RSS feed into a series of events in the calendar. A plugin like that will allow you to import feed items into any custom post type and import data from RSS tags into post meta fields. So in theory I am hoping I can import an RSS item into an event listing and match the RSS tags with the required meta fields for an event in the calendar. Or if necessary customise the meta fields in the calandar to match what is provided on the feed.

Also, my new site will have a set of different regional pages, each with events on them for that region. Rather than having a single calendar page with all events, is it possible to display seperate regional calendars that only displays events for that region? In other words is it possible to have multiple events calendar pages on a single site that are filtered by default to only display events in a certain area?

Browse through our Showcase to see how WP RSS Aggregator is being put to great use on a large variety of WordPress sites, from CrossFit to celebrity news, and gaming to government updates.

Each block or shortcode can use any template and it can also have its own parameters, such as selecting which sources to display items from, the maximum number of items to display, whether to use pagination, which page to show, and more.

No, there is no limit for the number of feed sources to import items from. Having many (50+) feed sources should not present any problems in itself. However, pulling in posts from many sites is bound to put your server under some stress, so you might want to consider using a hosting solution that goes beyond your typical shared host and staggering the feed imports.

To showcase the latest posts from a Facebook page on your WordPress site, you can create an RSS feed for that Facebook page using a third-party service like FetchRSS. Once you have the RSS feed URL, you can easily integrate this feed into your site using WP RSS Aggregator. For a detailed guide on generating the RSS feed and integrating it with WP RSS Aggregator, including step-by-step instructions, visit our full article on how to create a Facebook RSS feed.

Yes, along with the Feed to Post add-on we have another add-on called Full Text RSS Feeds that can get the full content of most feeds that only supply a short excerpt. The Full Text RSS Feeds add-on requires Feed to Post and a valid license key to function.

There used to be a popular service called Google Reader which made RSS easy for everyone. Google has since killed that project due to waning interest, but RSS still remains a viable way for consuming content thanks to services like Feedly.

If you have Yoast SEO installed, you might already have more control over your RSS feed than you know. In addition to all its other features, Yoast SEO has a handy RSS tab that lets you add custom content before and/or after your posts:

This plugin is perfect for any site with a variety of different categories. It makes it easy to display separate RSS feeds for each category on your site. It also lets you display RSS feeds for the tags on a post, which gives users even more control over what content they get.

If you want to display feeds from other sites, you should consider using this plugin to easily manage them. You can pull in as many external feeds as you want and quickly add them anywhere on your site with a shortcode.

By default, WordPress RSS feeds have enough functionality to serve that purpose. If you want to add to their functionality, you can do so with one of the plugins I discussed. And if you want to go even further, I recommend you dig into IFTTT. It might take some poking around to fully to grasp how the integrations work. But once you understand the concept, IFTTT unlocks a whole new world of functionality for RSS feeds.
