HaShem our G-d is seen often in Torah. What does that mean? Why not
G-d our HaShem? What do the names mean?
The names are not names of deities or persons of our CREATOR. These
names represent natures and attributes of our CREATOR in terms of His
interaction with creation – the infinite with the finite. HaShem
represents the merciful, lenient, right hand side. G-d on the other
hand represents the severe, strong, judgment, left side of our
CREATOR.
HaShem looks to draw us in with a “hug”. G-d looks to discipline and
keep out those that are not desirous of following THE CREATOR with His
left hand like a shield. That shield is protection to those that
have the favor of the right arm. But for those on the outside this
shield is as close as one can get.
HaShem our G-d can be viewed like this. We are THE CREATOR’s by our
obedience, love, and devotion so His right arm draws us close for a
“hug” while the left arm acts as a shield. If we are not obedient,
loving, and devoted to THE CREATOR the shield keep us out and we don’t
get the “hug” or favor with the right arm.
We have to choose which side we want to be looking from. Do we want
to be Inside looking out with HaShem or outside looking in with the
shield of G-d keeping us out at an arms length?
