Faith is meant to be expressed through action. Words are to be very
few. To profess a “faith” or a “belief” in a creed as “proof” of a
religious affiliation is a cheep and often false path. It may
surprise some that verbally professing a creed as proof of ones faith
is uniquely a Greek concept that western civilization has adopted.
The rest of the world judges on action not words. Words are cheep but
actions speak louder.
There is a flip side. It is possible to perform action without
meaning. An action devoid of intent is also false and vain.
Torah is different. It expects us to express our faith of love for
Him with all of our heart (emotions), all of our soul (intellect), and
with all of our strength (action). We are to take our entire person
and LIVE Torah before our speech is engaged. This is expressed in the
Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
Speech is the last thing to profess a faith. When speech is engaged
we are learning and teaching Torah, not demanding a “belief “ from
others. Our walk (with the engagement or our heart, soul, and might)
proves us out first not our talk!
