Now we know that the Hebrew faith today looks nothing like the faith
in the past. We have no Temple, no preist, and we do not go to
Jersualem three times a year as the Torah commands. Since the key
items of our faith have been destryoyed our rabbis had to do things to
keep the Hebrew faith alive, and somehow survive until Messiah comes
back, and He will restore all things back to their former glory. Now
anyone who knows me, knows I am not a big fan of rabbinical practice,
and feel that some of it is just plain wrong, but for the most part,
the rabbis have kept the Hebrew faith alive and somewhat healthy.
If you are going to call yourself Jewish, or Hebrew, and don't follow
the thrirteen foundations of the faith, you are just another religion
like christians with their own do's and dont's, and do not stand with
the Jewish faith. That also goes for kariaites, ebionites, and
nazerians. We must all unite under something, it's ok not to agree on
all things, but we must have a common road to walk on and this is what
Rambam's thirteen acrticles of faith do for us, gives us some kind of
structure, and a common foundation. If Yeshua is your Ribi, or Rebbe I
would say he would not have had a roblem with them at all, none of
them go against Torah. Below are a listing of the thriteen.
1. The existence of God;
2. His unity;
3. His spirituality;
4. His eternity;
5. God alone the object of worship;
6. Revelation through his prophets;
7. the preeminence of Moses among the Prophets;
8. God's law given on Mount Sinai;
9. the immutability of the Torah as God's Law;
10. God's foreknowledge of men's actions;
11. retribution;
12. the coming of the Messiah;
13. Resurrection.
