I was wondering why my favorite program VW has noneof the great render plugins like Corona, Redshift, Octane or you name it. Or why does it not have plugins for easy export to Blender or Unreal Engine for instance. It has for C4D and that works fine. But you end up getting a list of extra subscriptons on top of VW.

All other CAD apps like 3dsMax, Archicad, Revit, Sketchup, Blender, C4D and so have a wealth of add-ons. VW stands alone with an old outdated render engine. There is Lumion off course which is great but you wonder why there is no such thing for others.

Lumion is outstanding for what it is (fast and can handle large models). Buying/using Lumion is a bit like buying/using an Apple or Wacom product --- it is very refined and well-designed for what it does.

At the office they are now using Lumion with VW and it looks fantastic. I think livelinking VW to Lumion is at the moment the best option for VW. If you have the budget it will save you tons of time compared to any other option.

Today I did some tests in C4D with groundcover, Mograph and randomizers. With a few clicks I had a landscape, randomized assets, hdri ligthing and a spade from Quixel Bridge. This render took about 5 min with Corona-render. With Octane it would probably take less than 10 seconds.

I don't think VW will ever be able to have the tools for landscaping and terrain modeling with all the assets available. If you look at what Graswald, Bentanji, Vizpark, Foresters and so many others are bringing to the market ready made for C4D.

Have you tried lumion? The live sync plugin works really well. It is also very good for entourage. I completed a corporate campus render model in lumion 10.3 recently that covered an area of about 3/5 of a square mile and had about 6 buildings, roads, parking lots, sidewalks, a bridge, a hundred or so cars, 3D grass, a couple dozen people, and about 60,000 trees (campus included densely wooded foothills) and it was stable and fast with an Rtx 2080 ultra gpu and produced beautiful renderings. All entourage was done in Lumion. Fhd renderings took about 1-5 minutes each. 4K renderings took 2-12 minutes each but typically 2-5 minutes. 8k renderings took 10-40 minutes each.

But if you want superb interior renders with beautiful lighting I think you still need more refined render engines. Look at Blender/Cycles with Graswald and Lumion is not yet there. Especially if you get a little closer to the rendered vegetation and geometry.

Anyhow, as soon as you have loads of geometry and assets, vegetation and so on the quality of light becomes much less important. In most cases already you would not see the difference between Vray/Coronarender and Lumion.

If Lumion wasn't such a big step price-wise it already would have been the industry standard. If Twinmotion gets Unreal 5 quality and integration with Quixel it might be a real option over Lumion. At the moment Twinmotion images and assets are rubbish compared to Lumion. If Twinmotion can catch up in 2021 it has a chance. If it takes much longer Lumion will absorb the market.

I read that Vectorworks still has half of their users on OSX/Apple. So thats a problem with Lumion. Lumion made clear they are not interested in OSX. Twinmotion runs on OSX like Unreal. Maybe Apple still has a little surprise with metal and AMD GPU's.

The image attached is VW/C4D/Corona (construction starts in sept). This images are all geometry and nothing is photoshop'd. Grass is generated, assets and trees are by Darstellungsart and Bentanji. I wonder if Lumion would give me the same photorealism I need getting new customers.

OctaneRender is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. The Windows and Linux editions are compatible with 64-bit Windows 7+ and Linux, and require a CUDA 10-capable Nvidia GPU.

I'm looking for some plugin/software for complement my visualization work with Archicad in macOS. For still images and some time spent with the cinerender config I can get some good looking renders. But it's no realtime and is not useful to show or send to my clients.

For some years I'm using Twinmotion which is available in macOS and the connection with Archicad is very good. Year by year it's getting better and it has a lot of features for show and explain my projects to my clients but there's a critical feature not available on macOS: Path Tracer. While Archicad 3D is good looking, his Global Illumination an reflections are very unpleasant.

No you only install once. Then, as long as you use your account regularly, your partition is kept on their servers. You have to upload/download project files each time, however this has become easier now with their cloud drive app - works similar to any other cloud storage service. You can upload the project files onto the drive before you start, and then then you boot the remote PC, you will already have the project files ready.

You can ask for trial credits to try it out. I remember asking for 2 hours worth of credit to test it out and they were kind enough to help. The only negative for me has been the minimum pay limit (for recharging credits) which is 50$.

I would suggest you to stick with Twinmotion, build your scenes, set up your views, then rent a PC for solely rendering the images with pathtracer. I've previously used iRender for this, and it works perfectly fine. And unless you're doing long videos, it doesn't cost that much either (3-4$ per hour if i recall correctly).

Thanks foe the suggestion, I'll give a try; I've been watching some videos at iRender page and it's very interesting. Do you know if you have to install the soft - Twinmotion - each time you run the virtual pc?

They have some stunning images/renders but the approach is not what I'm looking for. I don't want to post-process any image and I don't want to use a third app (photoshop, Pixelmator, affinity..) to finish the production of each render.

I have got connections at Enscape. Yes, they are still working on Enscape for Mac. I haven't been advised of the timing of when they will have that ready. But if you sign up to their mailing list they will advise when Beta Testing for Archicad will be available. -for-mac/

I was enrolled in the enscape/sketchup beta plugin and tested it myself in a mpb m1pro. It worked very well but there is no estimation with the release of the Archicad Mac plugin, not even an alpha/beta test. Like octane-x, seems there is no interest in develop software for Archicad macOS

I have created a model of a house in sketchup which i would like to use to create a short film, and not the usual walk-through. I found a perfect example of a similar CG animated film of a house: Example. First I would like to know if I can use sketchup 2015 to do the animations and then render them using a plug in, for example:

OctaneRender for DAZ Studio supports almost all features of the Standalone, including graph-based Node editing. Updates and new functions made available to the Standalone will usually appear in an updated DAZ plugin version after a short period of time.

OctaneRender for DAZ Studio is especially made to work interactively on a scene.
