Subject: Winter Warmth Coat/Jacket Distribution Tuesday, Dec 21, 11:00-1:00 PM
Hi Homeless Services Agencies – The Task Force for the Homeless will be distributing warm coats, jackets,
heavy sweaters, sweatshirts, blankets
and new socks for men, women, and children to agencies countywide on Tuesday Dec 21, between 11 AM and 1 PM. We are also expecting donations of sleeping bags, rain gear, hats, scarves, tarps, and possibly tents and
backpacks during this cold weather season. We’re using a
new warehouse at our same office location, 3315 Airway Drive.
All homeless service agencies are welcome to come and get these free “Winter Warmth” items to distribute to unsheltered homeless people or to use in your shelter/housing/outreach program. Winter Warmth items are intended for distribution to homeless
people - first those who are living unsheltered and secondly those who must spend the bulk of the day out in the weather. Most distribution points are homeless service agencies. The Task Force will include food pantries as distribution points in cases where
this is the primary service connection for homeless people, many of whom may be unsheltered. This is often the situation in outlying areas such as West County. Winter Warmth items may be requested by these programs in proportion to the number of homeless people
they serve. Agencies may separately request items (especially women's and children's items, of which we sometimes have more on hand) for people who are in severe need but not currently homeless. We will meet these needs if we have an adequate supply of those
items at the time.
Please bring bags or boxes for your items.
Directions
The distribution site is located at 3315 Airway Drive (at Center Drive), between Piner and Industrial, on the second block North of Piner Road. We’re in the California Human Development Building. If you’re
heading north on Airway, turn left onto Center Drive. Turn into the
first driveway on your right and park in that first lot. The roll up warehouse door will be on your right. If that lot is full, please park on the street. We will help you get your items to your car. We will have staff and volunteers available when you
arrive to help you find, select and log out items.
We are planning two distributions per month until the cold weather ends and/or the need subsides. Thanks to our generous community we have a lot of nice things. Please come and get any items your clients may need to make it through these cold damp nights.
We want to remind you that our Winter Warmth program can only distribute items through homeless service agencies. We cannot serve individuals directly.
Thanks,
Fawn Moran
Operations Manager
Please excuse us if you receive multiple copies of this notice. We are using several lists to be sure that everyone is aware of this free distribution.
