FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
I recently noticed a phrase from the poet T.S. Eliot, “Home is where one starts from.” Home is certainly where we, at Buckelew, often start in helping clients begin to recover
their lives. You see, having a home can bring clients a sense of safety and stability, a grounding that makes all the difference in the world as we begin to provide supportive services. As much or as little as they need, for as long as they need it.
We help clients with cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting, and other daily living skills. We provide case management, counseling and medication monitoring services. We provide recreational activities;
we help them get library cards; we help them with school; we arrange medical appointments and accompany them to the doctor. We help them get a job. We do whatever they need to live healthy, happy, sustainable lives in the community.
Thank you for being a friend of Buckelew Programs. As we enter the Holiday Season we are ever mindful of how your support helps us to continue to deliver homes, jobs, and hope to those who might
otherwise be living on the streets or in institutions, alone. Your support also helps create opportunities for at-risk youth, and resources to families seeking help for a loved one with mental illness. For all of them, we thank you.
With gratitude,

More Services for Seniors
According
to the Marin County Commission on Aging, the number of seniors in Marin is projected to increase dramatically over the next decade, growing from 29.6% in 2010 to 40.5% in 2020. As people age, they will need affordable housing and services to “age in place”
and remain living in the community.
The aging trend is beginning to have an impact on Buckelew as well. Did you know that ...
