How many WiFi devices do you have and what is your router? A lot of routers have device limits of 24 or 32 devices.

Subject: Devices keep disconnecting since Tasmota 9.5.0

Hey there.

never had any problems with desconnecting devices, since i last updated to Tasmota 9.5.0.

i experience this not on all devices. i got Gosund sp111 plugs and Blitzwolf shp6 plugs.

when i unplug a device that is not reachable in my network from power and plug it in again, device shows up again for a period of time, then it suddenly disconnects and will not reconnect to the WLAN again.

some devices are also updates to Tasmota 9.5.0 and dont have this issue.

pretty strange, since all devices are configurated the same and didnt have any of this issues at all till Tasmota 9.5.0.

i did Reset 3 with toggle power, didnt help, i also did Reset 5 didnt help eighter...

Hope anyone has an idea what could be the issue here

thanks for reading

Alex

I am having the exact same problems, all devices running 9.5.0 configured the same, but two devices in particular keep disconnecting like the OP mentioned.

I am running Synology Routers with Mesh satellite points and the two devices are in different areas of the house so connect to different mesh points. I do have a log of other wifi devices in the house, but didn’t have this problems when I was running older versions of Tasmota

The two devices I seem to have the most problems with are these

so not sure if these powerstrips have issues with wifi signals – but didn’t seem to have these issues running older versions

Hi,

I have the same issue, but I've given up trying to fix it :-)
I have about 20 Tasmota devices, all running 9.5.0 and two randomly drop off the network regularly. But after a while they come back.
There is no pattern. They are not the weakest signal. I have even put an AP in the same room as one of them so it has an RSSI of 100, and it didnt help. Where as the same physical model of device is out in the garden with an RSSI of 45, and its rock solid.
I have them on their own 2.4G dedicated IoT WiFi SSID, which did help and made them all a bit more reliable. I turn on all the backwards compatibility features on the dedicated SSID and limited it to 2.4G.
That's the only thing I can suggest you try.

I also set :
SetOption56 1;
SetOption57 1;
SetOption41 60;

I have a mesh network, which lots of people say doesn't play well with Tasmota. but I don't know why and I have no evidence. The devices and APs dont move, so once they are connected, the mesh should be irrelevant.

I hope this helps.

Part of the issue with mesh is that they can forcibly move the device to another mesh hub. I think Tasmota looks at the MAC address and doesn’t like it so is stubborn. A lot of mesh systems have a limit of 16 per hub too and try to ‘bump’ devices when a new device with a strong signal appears.

It’s easy to blame Tasmota because it’s the device that it’s happening to but I’ve had problems with TP-Link, Shelly and Broadlink products dropping off  when I was getting close to the limits.

If you have ‘about 20 devices’ on one router there’s a possibility that the router has a 24 device limit (which is very common – some can be increased to 32) and it may be that that’s causing the issue.
