Hi there,
I have some Sonoffs (2x 4CH PRO, Basic, Basic RF and POW R2).
I used esptool.py (from esp-open-sdk 2017, python 2.7). Succesully flashed all devices (using USB to serial based on PL2303, tested again reading flash from Basic RF) except POW, with Tasmota-pl 6.6.0.
The POW works, it is configured and has latest original firmware (but I don't want to be dependent on Chinese servers).

Using instructions from this page: https://tasmota.github.io/docs/Getting-Started/ .
Device seems to enter flashing mode (no LED, no response to button), but esptool.py fails with:

laurent@laptop4 esptool]$ ./esptool.py --port /dev/ttyUSB3 read_flash 0x00000 0x100000 sonoff_POW_R2_original.bin
esptool.py v1.2
Connecting...

A fatal error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP8266

LED on USB converter shows that program is transmitting something but no response from Sonoff.

Any ideas what can I do now to flash Tasmota?
Under Linux (Fedora 24).

Try swapping Tx and Rx it’s wrong on some boards. I always us the nodemcu flasher because it gives a QR code when successfully connected.

Tried to use Tuya-convert ( https://github.com/ct-Open-Source/tuya-convert ).
Failed on laptop (Fedora 24).
Almost success on OrangePiPC+ (Armbian/Debian Buster 10, ARM, python3.7),
Connect to vtrust-flash from Android phone OK,
Pairing mode OK, appeared another network: ITEAD-xxxx,
Then fails with:

................
SmartConfig complete.
Resending SmartConfig Packets
........
Device did not appear with the intermediate firmware
Check the *.log files in the scripts folder

Device looks unchanged (blue LED flashes then solid - WiFi connect(?), responds to button press).

I think I've already tried to swap Rx/Tx pins, no result.

What am I missing?
What to look for in *.log files?

Tuya-Convert is only for devices manufactured by Tuya. Sonoff are manufactured by Itead. It is not possible to replace the Sonoff firmware using OTA methods. You must flash it using the ESP82xx serial interface.
