The stock ITead 4CH Pro R2 firmware allows the device to be put in learning mode to program the RF remote control. Does TASMOTA support RF Learning Mode? I know that a different chip provides the RF functionality. I just want to understand if there is any co-dependence between the ESP8285 firmware and the firmware in the RF controller.

Net-net - if I flash TASMOTA onto the device, can I still use an RF remote control with it? How do I assign remote control keys to the device functions (i.e., control of each channel)?

Yes but i agree that the wiki glance over i just did wasnt very enlightening as it details the steps necessary for a sonoff rf and samphler, and the rfkeyx command seems to be relevant for the rfbridge specifically???  tho i would give the rfkeyx command a go where x is the switch/relay  1-4 in the console as detailed in the wiki commands page (rf bridge section)

only rf enabled device online and flashed with tasmota this end is the rfbridge so i cant test to validate further..

Phil,

It's not clear, but I think the short answer to my question is yes, but that I have to make the remote control key assignments via commands through the Console rather than putting the 4CH in "learning" mode and pressing the keys on the remote control. Did I understand you properly?

Thanks.

Hi Mike I dont have a 4ch in service but do have a couple of rf-basics and the rfbridge,  the rfbasics have a 'bodge' with a jumper and a couple of pins soldered over a resistor to enable the rf pairing with the button.  i cant see any reference to a similar fix for the 4ch tho??  And the rfbridge has the documented rfkeyx command to instigate pairing..

without your h/w in front of me to test and confirm my best guess and first try would be to load up the web interface and try the rfkeyx command in the console page.

good luck

Well, I was making this harder than it was. I got TASMOTA flashed earlier and just now gave the remote control a try. Since the firmware for the RF chip is not affected (i.e., we didn't flash that chip, only the ESP8285), the learning mode stays as is even with TASMOTA flashed. The learning function is as it was delivered from the manufacturer.  To program a button on the RF remote control, double-click the 4CH channel button and then triple-click the button on the RF remote control to be associated with the 4CH channel.
