My devices all work fine at home with the SSID set to my home router.

I want to use them in my RV while camping away from home (no WiFi or internet available).

Is there a way to still connect to the devices from my cell phone (no cell signal)?

Thanks.

The cheapest way, if you have an old router available, is to install the old router in your RV ( most work off 12V) with the same SSID or use the second SSID. The router will then work the same as at home (but without the internet). If you use the same SSID logging in with phone would be seamless too.
If not MiFi units are quite cheap and would do the same.
You'd need to turn off MQTT to stop repeated connection failures.

Thanks, I have a TP-Link N300 wireless nano travel router. I will hook that up and give it a try.

I have solved this exact problem by running Termux, node red, and mosquitto on an old phone, with the phone configured as a wifi hotspot that the sonoff (TH10) connects to.  The phone autostarts the wifi, node red, etc using Tasker.  The one issue I have is that you have to manually setup the time if the phone has been powered off for some time.

Thanks.

Here over the years have tinkered with micro travel routers / OpenWRT.

Latest tinkering here is configuring a tiny RTC/Battery inside of the tiny case, python and mosquitto on these devices.

They are all similiar and have a small footprint.  You can also install small antennas on these devices.

They are many on Ebay for less than $20 these days.

I am currently using one here for an isolated dedicated to Sonoff / Tasmota devies WAP for WiFi modded with firmware devices today.

Just started a new Sonoff WiFi basic Tasmota combo sensor project - just temperature and humidity sensors.

First test box is in the basement covering basement, main floor and outside sensors.  It is talk

Sonoff/Tasmota side see RSSI ==> 66%

On the OpenWRTWAP side see ==> -69 / -95 dBm SNR: 26

I do not think you would have any issues inside of a camper with one of the micro routers.

It can be started on NodeMCU/Wemos/generic esp8266 and it will act as Access Point and MQTT Broker.
