Hi,
Has anyone flashed tasmota onto a Sonoff SV?  I've got it hooked up to the FTDI as I've done for the other devices (RF Bridge etc), but when I try to run FlashESP8266 I get an instant error message...

Has anyone managed to flash one of these?

I did two a couple of months ago. I use ESP Easy Flasher which I think was called FlashESP8266 or Tasmotizer.
Have you got the Tx and Rx the right way round?
Is it finding the com port?
I have terrible trouble with my USB to TTL module because of the driver and find I have to reinstall the older driver sometimes because Windows has updated to a later driver that doesn't work.

I use Linux as the windows driver stuff is so frustrating. Actually I rarely use windows at all any more.
I just plug the usb in and it works. (99.9% of the time)
I use esptool. Simple but does the job.
I don't remember having any issues doing the SV

Hi Guys,
Managed to flash it...

I've always used FlashESP8266.exe in the past, but it doesn't work now...
Instead I used ESP.Easy.Flasher.exe (run as admin) then all was well!

Thanks for the replys.

The recommended tool is Tasmotizer, already having the setup needed for flashing Tasmota, and also supports fetching the binary, and doing initial configuration.

As far as I know tasmotizer uses thehackbox.org to fetch the binaries. This site is down at the moment. You have to download the binary you want to flash from  other site an then select it manually.
Try  http://sidweb.nl/tasmota/ (Theo's website)

The canonical OTA address for Tasmota is now ota.tasmota.com - which is also used in a very recent update of Tasmotizer.
