Hi all,

I'm learning all i can about Sonoff + firmwares.
Before I invest a lot more time, and start experimenting and purchasing, I would appreciate any input from the group.

Would it be feasable to dim a 220v LED spot, such as Philips MAS LEDspotMV VLE D 4.3-50W GU10 830 40D, with a Sonoff product + TASMOTA ?

Thanks for your thoughts!
Tom.

The sonoff product line uses relays, so it cannot dim lights.

I've poked around a little myself to try and find a dimmer with a ESP8266 in it
and have not yet found one.

https://github.com/arendst/Sonoff-Tasmota/issues/41  is tantalisingly close, isn't it ?

not really

the ws2812 LEDs are special separate hardware with it's own dimming capability.

dimming the built-in LED can be done by switching it on and off very quickly

the control for the AC power is a relay, to dim a light, you would need to have
it using a triac and zero-crossing detector instead. This is completly different
hardware.

Once we can find some hardware that can do the dimming, I would expect that
getting support for it into Tasmota wouldn't be that hard, but since it can
differ for different hardware, nothing is going to go in until there is some
hardware to test it on.
