can DIY mode read Temperature And Humidity Sensor values?

I need to read off a Sonoff Basic R3 its Temperature And Humidity data with DIY mode, for my garden managing project.

I'm planning to get a Sonoff Basic R3 and plug in it a Temp. & Hum. Sensor (Sonoff AM2301)

But before purchasing anyone have information on is it possible to read the Temp. & Hum. values from the sensor via the DIY API?

Try the itead/sonoff support forums for the oem firmware and its features, folk in here replace the oem firmware with tasmota so will not know much about it.  

With tasmota on a sonoff basic all you need do is access the web interface and navigate to the config menu to tell the device which gpio you have connected your sensor to and what sensor it is (selected from a drop down list) 

retrieving the data simply involves using a mqtt broker and subscribing to the relevant topic (also configurable via the gui)
