Hi Jesse.

When running Sonobus (release 1.4.6) on Raspbian Buster I experience occasional audio-beeps lasting anything from 0.5 - 1.- sec.
At the same time the jackdriver throws an error, please see attachment.

Additional info:
OS: Linux Raspbian-64 5.10.17-v8+ #1421 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 27 14:01:37 BST 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Hardware: RPI4 / 4GB & RPI4 / 2GB

Does the error thrown in any way helps determining what's going wrong (and where)?
Can I provide any more info that culd help to overcome this issue? Please let me know.

Kind regards,

Christiaan

Not entirely sure why that might be happening. What are your audio
settings for Jack (sample rate, period size and count)?

HI Jesse.

"Jackd:" is started with the following command: jackd -dalsa -dhw:USB -r44100 -p64 -n2

Not sure what you mean bij "count" though.

I would recommend experimenting with some different jackd audio
parameters. Try '-r44100 -p64 -n3' (increasing number of periods to
3), also try '-r48000 -p64 -n2' or '-r48000 -p64 -n3' (using 48000 as
the sample rate instead of 44100) and see if any of those things
reduce the number of issues you have.

Hi Jesse.

I will give it a try next weekend and let you know.

Insomnio is currently rehearsing with some 10 musicians spread out all over Holland.
Life / on-line concerts are planned for Jun 29th and July 2nd. Sonobus will be used to interconnect the musicians and the studio.

For those interested in contemporary classical music performed life & on-line;
you can register on-line and become part of the audience of these first two experimental and interactive concerts.
Participation is free. Check-out the link below to find out more.

HI Jesse & all.
Over the last couple of days I've done extensive testing, playing around with different Jackd- settings.
Platform: RPI4/4GB. OS: Raspian Buster (64bit, Beta).
When running Sonobus on top of jackd -r48000 -p64 -n3 I experience loud "beeps" about once every 4 -5 minutes.
These "beeps" last about one second and are accompanied by the error-message I sent in before.
After having changed the FPS from 64 to 128 the amount of "beeps" reduced significantly?!
Not more than one - two per hour now.
The RPI DSP-load seems to give some indication whether or not one can expect strange audio-artifacts.
When this load is <5%, practically no occurrences. Around 10%, 1 -2 times per hour. With the aforementioned -p128 setting that is.
I'm still glad all our musicians use (remotely operated/configured) RPI's. I will however see if I can do some tests on some very small headless PC running Linux to see how that goes.
Thanks!
Christtiaan
