Hello,
i am trying to connect my phone to a group in sonobus.
i connect my android phone app with the app on my mac mini.
i keep getting this error message:

Could not connect with user, one or both of you may need to configure your internal firewall or network router to allow SonoBus to work between you.See the help documentation to enable port forwarding on your router.

how do fix this? VOD.ninja works great on the same network and devices so cant Sonobus work just as great?

It's local network and wifi. Not using any carrier
When I use carrier, it works fine.

Maybe some security setting in your router that keeps each device in your local network from seeing each other. Commonly seen in semi public WiFi networks, for security reasons. It would be worth a shot to try and find that setting by logging into your ISP modem

To troubleshoot you might connect the phone with an Ethernet adapter, but you probably want it to be wireless

You’ll need to set up a port forwarding in your network router, as described in this section of the user’s guide:

yes, that would be one way to do that. the only thing is i can not do that for every router or network i use. some are going to be public ones that i will not have access to.
cant it be setup like how VOD.ninja works? that works great on a lot of public networks just fine.

For it to work in all circumstances, *someone* needs to pay for relaying server bandwidth to work around these scenarios, and because sonobus was designed not to require that kind of cost by me, that’s why it is the way it is. However, in the future versions at least, it will be possible to specify a relaying server if others want to carry that cost burden to guarantee connectivity in their use case.
