iOS requires separate host?

First let me say, where has this been all my life?
I know you can't answer that, but I want to say thank you. Sonobus is a dream come true.

Now to the question. I'm confused about Sonobus's IAA support in iOS. In the input mixer of the standalone app, the only input option I'm given is the iPad or iPhone's built-in microphone. I assume attaching my audio interface would make its inputs available, too, but I'm surprised not to see any of my apps that support IAA. I'd expected to find a list of those apps the way I do when recording in the AudioShare app. Am I missing something? Must the audio be routed through a 3rd party host with Sonobus loaded as AUv3? I've successfully done that with GarageBand, but it feels clunky and adds an extra layer.

If I've just missed something, please let me know.
It seems a lot of folks use AUM to route everything, and if AUv3/AUM is the way to go, so be it, but it feels a little funny to give $21 to someone else to use your software. IAA within the standalone app would seem more straightforward.

Thanks,
p

It actually doesn’t support IAA, sorry! Yes, if you want to use it with other apps you need to use it as an AUv3 plugin (with multiple aux buses, so it can still do a lot) in the hosts that support it. AUM is one of the best for this, but yes, you have to support another independent developer’s livelihood to do it :)

Sorry about that!

Correction, it also supports IAA as an effect, but it is not a host, which is what it sounds like you were expecting. Writing hosts is hard!

Got it. Thanks for the reply. And thanks again for the incredible piece of soft kit.
